[Government considering Ring-necked Parakeet cull

Ring-necked Parakeets may be culled by
the government, with a recent revelation
in The Telegraph stating that Defra officials
are in discussions about destroying satellite
populations of the species.
During the past few decades the parakeet
has spread from London to become
an established Category C breeding species
in much of the South-East with an
estimated population of some 8,600 – though
perhaps as many as 25,000 – pairs.
In recent years the species has penetrated
far corners of Britain; BirdGuides reports show
the parakeets have reached as far north as
Aberdeenshire and west as Devon since 2017.]

I know the larger seagulls can be very aggressive with smaller birds and even known to swallow them whole :worry:

I had a pal who wanted to make a film about a gang of gangsters who illegally imported these birds inside pairs of mens pants

but he could not think of a good title for the movie

Yep ..that was my understanding as well.

I love all living things so I’m dead against any kind of cull ....

I’ve only heard good things about them until this bombshell .. all we see is photos of happy , smiling families feeding and even holding these beautiful creatures ..

I much prefer them to those aggressive Starlings ..
