it says like, verify your account but when i do that it asks for my pin number, and of course i don't trust it then, more like suspecting it to be phishing (what my dad also tells me to not trust it)

it also asks me like to finish installation quite a few times, for windows hello, something i do not want since i don't use this computer for work or business

can i just ignore that and continue to use my microsoft account as it is now?, because now at the moment it looks alright, mostly basic but still, i just use it for my Mail, Store for app updates, and also microsoft news for weather updates of my location

+ i am not too keen on using this microsoft account for login/startup either what i had read that is Hello mainly for either

Is this verifying your email account on your phone? If so I'm pretty sure it's legit, I had to do it yesterday as well

It asked for my email password only though

You'll know it's legitimate if it's from the Microsoft account team at account-security-noreply@accountprotection.microsoft.com.

Ohh OK, I don't know then but best to err on the side on caution and check it out properly first, there's lots of those Microsoft scams around, they usually phone though

i put notifications off now (my dad had done that a longer while ago) so the message can't pop up out of nowhere

and i think it is more for work related stuff, but the microsoft account what i got is more linked via my mail address, i checked everything out at mail, store, web browser if everything is ok, and it says it is connected

so i'll leave it like it is now, not wanting to get my computer all messed up or something and i don't trust messages like this that much, i mean my computer is just new

oh ok know it now, but due to latest 20h2 update it jumped to pin number, but i managed to switch back to old password verification thing

now it asks to verify several devices, i don't have multiple devices lol, but i had to since my groove music program also asked me that annoying verifying message

If you just pop your name, address, DoB, and mothers maiden name in here, I'll sort it out for you. :smug:

You probably shouldn't be using Windows if you can't tell what's secure or not

Microsoft hates you.

no

i'm sure they ask everyone with these back-up reminders

but no need to log me off, but not really much trouble to log back in but i shouldn't need to anyway

also asking me to verify for my other devices, i don't have any other devices

so i am not doing that

Jessica.

Why don't you just disable onedrive then? Maybe you should take a computer literacy class.

because i don't want to mess too much about it, since i am not a computer nerd [emoji23]You can literally Google any problem you have and you'll find info on fixing it. You don't have to be a nerd to figure out basic problem solving.

understanding computer basics is not nerdy its common sense

and as Jess said all your issues are solved immediately by google

had to verify again just now

maybe it has to do with my mail, more out of extra protection precautions idk

not gonna seek anything behind it, or maybe my mail had an update?

or microsoft itself did some security updates at their HQ

Nicky91

i did however need a lot of app updating in the store, maybe that is the reason

Nicky, if everyone made a post when their computer carried out a normal function the entire forum would be spammed with posts.

Windows verification is done via Microsoft account these days (rather than the long 16 digit pin that used to come with the windows installation disk / on the back of a laptop) so basically it's telling you that it's having issues communicating with your account to ensure that your Windows license is genuine.

Go to the Start menu and type in "windows activation" and click on "See if windows is activated", you'll get a screen like this one below (from my PC :hee: )

If there's a problem, it should give you more details there.

You could try changing your password (at accounts.microsoft.com) and then using your new password the next time it asks... but also, it's not uncommon for it to ask repeatedly for a while with a new computer / fresh installation of Windows so it might stop. But yeah, see what it says on that screen.
