According to BBC News, Prince Charles visited him in hospital today, current rules say family can only visit people on their deathbed/end of life care

I would expect that to be so Niamh.
Prince Philip doesn't like having visitors, although Princess Anne visited, a few years ago when he was in.
Prince Charles was only there half an hour anyway.

Can you explain why it would
Bojo is giving a roadmap on Monday , he is not going to say ‘it’s all over lads’
If he has to delay by a few days it wont make a difference

Pretty sure this rumour circulates every time he goes to hospital or just stays at home
One day it will be true
Forthbridge down :joker: if they are code words for his death why would they be in the public domain

They shouldn't be bent, it makes a mockery of the sacrifices the rest of the country has had to make this past year.

It’s different now, which is why Twitter is going off, , close family can visit if there is a concern about the patient dying

Protocol I presume.
Things must be done in a specific certain order in events like this iirc.

If the protocol/procedure is anything like what will happen when the Queen passes away then it’s quite the regime. Almost hour by hour precision in a specific order of what happens, who is notified etc.

I mean he's 99... I'm afraid it's a fair bet that he's going to die pretty soon, and I just can't see how it would be surprising news. It's like when Captain Tom died. Yes, it's always sad when someone died, but there is an element of "Well no ****, the man was 100 years old".
Jake.
20-02-2021, 10:51 PM
It’ll be sad when he goes but 99 is quite an age

Yeah Surely this would be breaking news if it was true , and it would dominate every news channel. So i'm inclined to think it's false .

Not sure about racist (although I wouldn’t be surprised) however, he’s made a number of rude/disrespectful remarks that are always swept under the carpet because of who he is

Hmm not sure about this tbh
About the forth bridge down stuff (I wasnt aware that was Phillips code words) but our forth road bridge was locked down by the emergency service and coastguard Friday night due to someone about to jump off not sure if just an odd coincidence though
...it isn’t a fake news thread to have said it was a rumour if it was a rumour, Arista...It might or might not be accurate but it’s a good faith thread...
...I hope that it is rumours and that Philip recovers...because of his age and who he is, he would always be taken to hospital for close observation so that’ll always provoke rumours and hopefull that’s all it is now...so a ‘fake thread’ would be a good thing../...better to be fake than real...
...in this age of the Internet and social media and the speed of ‘rumours’ etc...(...I would think..)...that such an important and sad announcement would be made sooner, with very little delay...because something like this can’t be contained as it may have more been back in the day../...pre social media etc...but obviously there is no certainty of that ...

There are protocols to follow for Senior Royals so that there would be a delay in releasing to the Public. The PM has to be informed, along with the leaders of all Commonwealth countries. Then the press releases go out. All done over secure lines of communication but I don't think it would be this long if he passed last night.
Hopefully, it is just a rumour but at his advanced age, who knows? Hopefully, the media team at the Palace will have got wind of these rumours and will advise accordingly soon.

...yeah...(..I would have thought...)...but I don’t know, that protocol might be a quicker process because rumours fly so much quickly with social media etc...today I guess is when we’re all going to be looking for signs from politicians/media etc...

A quick google
Customarily, the public is forewarned that a royal is on his or her deathbed via Palace bulletin, as was the case with Queen Victoria and George V, reports The Guardian.

He’s 99... what 99 hasn’t said something rude/disrespectful before? He’s no different to every other 99 year old in that respect
We and you will have said things that will be considered rude and disrespectful in 30-50 years time right now, should we all just go ahead and kill ourselves and leave no one alive then? This is ridiculous
there was a code word for the queen mother dying, because it implements particular protocols across government , palace and news agencies.
I remember when Diana died they were all prepared for it being the queen mother and had nothing in place for Diana
...the more I think and look at pics of Charles when he left from visiting his father, the more I’m thinking more that ...’in good spirit’ and just precautionary etc isn’t how Philip is at all, I so hope that that isn’t the case at all and the observation of him is true to what has been reported...

I only know about these "bridge" code words because of the episode of The Crown where they thought Charles had died in an avalanche. I thought it was made up for the show TBH. Probbally is.
