Respected British author torches 'American cancel culture' after
Meghan Markle's racism claim against Royal family

https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/1329783256338866178/La5MphT5.jpg

British author of "The Madness of Crowds" Douglas Murray torched "American
cancel culture," after Meghan Markle’s racism claim against the royal family.

During an appearance on "Fox & Friends," Murray expressed concern that
"American culture wars seem to now be going around the world" and called
on people to stand up for themselves and demand evidence when allegations
are brought against them.

"What is happening is a set of bullies with a very nasty ideology pushing their
way into everything, in American life and now in British life," Murray said.

Murray said Meghan Markle utilized her platform to make "nasty" and
unsubstantiated claims of racism against the royal family in an attempt to
profit.

"The royal family have got to do what everyone has to do in America and
elsewhere we’ve got to stand up to this," Murray added.

"We’ve got to say no, truth matters, prove it. Show us that it’s true, don’t
just assert it, don’t just have millionaires moaning at billionaires on sets in
great mansions saying ‘woe is me,’ because someone in the family once said
something that I’ve decided is racist and now I can rake in more millions."

Murray also reacted to a clip of Piers Morgan during an interview on "Fox &
friends," just a week before quitting his anchor role on "Good Morning
Britain." Morgan said that cancel culture was not only intolerant but the

"the antithesis of liberalism" and the "enemy of democracy," nearly predicting the
the controversy that would soon surround him.

Murray defended Morgan and said that America and Britain cannot put up
with a culture that allows "dishonest characters" and "liars" to thrive, so long
as they push leftist narratives, such as the hypothesis that the foundation of
Britain and the United States was built on racism.

British journalist Douglas Murray made an appearance on Fox News to attack
Meghan Markle by arguing that the true concern over her baby's skin color was
that he might be a "ginger."

Murray told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade that Markle was "mostly likely just lying" about her battle with suicidal thoughts.

He said somebody in the royal family said something about the possible skin
color of their baby," he continued. "This could be a totally innocuous remark,
just to say, 'The father is ginger. I wonder whether the baby will be ginger.
' It's perfectly possible that somebody said something along those lines to
Harry or Meghan at some point."

"She tells Oprah Winfrey that this is racism!" Murray complained. "No way is
that racism! But she says it is and now the royal family is racist and so this
claim, this way in which bullyish people in America, who have very nasty
agendas, are trying to push their agenda into everything in American life.
They've now done it at the heart of British life."

Meghan Markle is a US culture-war missile aimed at the heart of Britain and Europe

https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/03/meghan-markle-prince-harry-oprah.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=618&h=410&crop=1

America’s culture wars are an export the rest of the world doesn’t thank you
for — especially we Britons, who are now saddled with a living embodiment
of those wars in the figure of Meghan Markle.

By sending her our way, American culture has fired a woke missile right into
the heart of the British establishment. She’s a one-woman family
destroyer, only in this case, the family in question happens to form one
of Europe’s most venerable and ancient institutions.

For years, Markle has had virtually no relationship with any of her own
family. It seems that she wants to ensure that her husband, Prince Harry,
similarly has no relations with his. She has sought to sever his blood ties
through the medium of Oprah Winfrey.

During their interview, Markle showed herself to be a far better actress than
her minor TV career might ever have suggested. In her two-hour special, she
posed, preened, emoted and made constant unsubstantiated claims.
Worst was her claim that someone in the family had asked Harry what he
thought their first-born might look like. This was immediately asserted by
both Meghan and Oprah to be an example of “racism.”

Was it? I very much doubt it. If one of the royals had said anything actually
racist, then Markle would have used it to get another wheelbarrow of cash in
another of her high-profile attempts to avoid the limelight. As it was, she
relied on innuendo.

Her outright lies and innuendos in extremely topical and sensitive subjects especially were designed to fire up anti - monarchists and the ultra woke into a frenzy of indignation on her behalf. You certainly think a lot of her jet - such a clever, calculating genius that she staged the entire plan from start to finish, every last aspect, and it's all gone off perfectly without a hitch! I'm just calling a spade a spade, the idea that a woman is "just after ____" when there's just NO evidence of that at all is blatant misogyny rooted in an idea that any woman who ends up in a relationship with a "man of status" must be regarded with suspicion as some sort of leech or gold digger. Anyone who fawns over Kate for being meek and quiet whilst fuming about Meghan Markle for saying too much has - in my opinion - some subconscious issues with women in general to address.

You're way behind - there was a thread about this days ago. All but one (who nobody has ever heard of) are royal authors, not Royal reporters or commentators and never have been.
Edit - one is not a Royal author but a long retired press secretary to the Queen.Illustrates the general mindset quite well I think - all had made up their minds before even seeing it. Its called confirmation bias: you'll see what you want to see.

I agree with what BOTS said: "they weren't caught lying. They were invited to comment before they had seen the video using their judgement on what they speculated it would contain. Big difference."

.....and my goodness, when I watched it again afterwards their speculations were so spot on you'd swear they HAD seen it.
They had her measure, just like most of the UK public do who are over 24 (according to all the polls, 18 - 24's is where the majority of their support comes from).

They were caught lying, they presented the information as what they had seen, not what they expected to see. I'm unsurprised by the tedious denial, though.

As for it being "so spot on you'd swear they had seen it", see above re: confirmation bias.

I've still yet to have anyone link me to one of these polls, also, their validity depends entirely on where it was that ran the poll.

Their confirmation bias turned out to be confirmed though, what they expected to see was correct.

I posted a link to the latest YouGOV poll elsewhere.

I’m seeing lots of pictures of Harry either on the back of his dads bike...being towed by his dad on a bike and cycling with his family as a young boy....contrary to what Harry said in the interview...
The untruths just seem to keep coming...

What did he say about that?

Confirmation bias is the reason that you view the interview and think "Oh boy, they/I were correct, exactly what I expected".

A subconscious selective focus on certain pieces of information that happen to back up your preconceptions, whilst disregarding information that might counter those thoughts.

Its very common and we're all susceptible to it. It's what makes Social Media so successful (and toxic), for example.

What did he say about that?"Harry said he doesn't get on with his dad and there are issues there, but I saw him on his bike with him when he was 5 and he was SMILING AND LAUGHING so oh umm what a liar."

I was wondering what people were talking about with Harry on his bike :joker:, wow the reacting of all this .

He did specifically say he wasn't able to do things like go on bike rides with his dad when he was young and there are pictures of him on a bike with Charles. He looks very young and the likelihood of him actually remembering this is very slim so people's outrage and calling it lying is obviously over the top - although it is technically untrue, which he may himself be surprised to find out I suppose. I doubt he was lying, so much as not remembering doing things like that with his dad. There's a suggestion that there are "tonnes" of these photographs but the only ones I;ve seen look like they were all taken on the same day.

Regardless, people are laser-focussing on it in bad faith: he's using it as an illustrative example, all he's REALLY saying is "I don't remember spending much time as a family when I was a kid and I want things to be different for my children". Countering with "Aha! See you DID spend some time with your family!!" is really nit-picking. It's like someone saying "I was always unhappy in my marriage right from the start" and then someone else saying "AHA here's a picture of you smiling and laughing together - explain that!!" as evidence that not every single minute was misery. It's supposed to be a "gotcha", but it's only that to people who have expremely black & white thinking, either through inability for more nuanced consideration or just the usual banal pantomime where people pretend they don't get it.

Who would have thought that people with an irrational hatred of someone who doesn't really affect their lives at all do so in bad faith. I'm shocked, truly.

The endless oxymorons around Meghan Markle are a scream in themselves. She's just 'some actress' that's too big for her boots, but when the narrative calls for it, she's some sort of James Bond-esque Femme Fatale that's out to ensnare a prince and destroy life as we knows it, but she's not that smart, she's just a gold digger after all, but you can't underestimate her because she's a culture war missile out to nuke everything we know and love!!!!

Yeah It's very easy to form a narrative especially when people don't like them , there was a documentary on TV the other week about the royals and I remember seeing a moment where Harry was looking away from Meghan and Meghan was looking forward.

It would be so easy to twist that footage to say something like "ohhh look they're not happy with eachother" and blah blah. When really Harry is just looking at something and Meghan is just looking forward in that moment .

People also see what they want to see , and as you said an unhappy childhood isn't necessarily going to reflect that in pictures for goodness sake. People put on smiles and they try to cover up sadness .

Cancel culture isn’t a real thing it’s just a branding technique big names use to deflect from critisism
