The BBC has cancelled The Mash Report, the satirical show that became the
focus of criticism over perceived left-wing bias in the corporation’s comedy
output.

The programme, hosted by Nish Kumar and featuring Rachel Parris, below,
regularly targeted the Government and Brexit.

Tim Davie, the director-general, has made impartiality one of his biggest
priorities and signalled on his arrival last year that the drive would extend
beyond news to comedy shows.

He has vowed to restore trust in the BBC by better reflecting all sides of the
political divide.

Critics of The Mash Report included Andrew Neil, who described it as “self-
satisfied, self-adulatory, unchallenged Left-wing propaganda”.

Neil said the programme was a political show by another name, adding:
“When it comes to so-called comedy the BBC has long given up on balance,
on radio and TV. Nobody seems to care. And I don’t want right-wing comedy, whatever that is. I’d just like comedy.”

In 2019, Host Kumar was booed off stage for making Brexit jokes and being
very unfunny at a charity event held by the Lord’s Taverners.

He was pelted with a bread roll.

I've never seen this, political comedy is just never funny, apart from Have I Got News For You and Private Eye...

Ohh and Mock the Week is okay too!

So selective ‘cancel culture’ is alright then?

Nah it's just consequence culture :joker:

I'm pretty sure it's almost impossible to be right leaning and not be a hypocrite at this point. Almost everything the right complain about, they do themselves and just project it onto others.

They always use that term, it's like the overused "woke" label

I love how the right have jumped on this and decided that they've got it cancelled when the reality is that the show only really did well online as opposed to people actually watching it in the first place.

I agree.

Furthermore if the extreme left highlighting and fighting for better protection and rights of the most vulnerable in society.

The looking at the right with their heartless policies to even the sick and disabled.

Then I know which of those descriptions I'd rather be identified as.
So extreme left or left will do for me absolutely.

You'll never get me to detract from the cruelty and heartlessness the sick and disabled have been dished out by this right wing government.
Supported by those probable third of voters who are more to the hard right too.

Something I on the left have never seen supported by any around me who are also on the left.
The left amazingly blamed for everything bad.
While the right are hailed as saviours.

Not in my book, not now, likely never either.
