He's worthless. A snake that desperately wants to be a tory. He should do everyone a favour and do exactly that rather than continue to poison the only party that has a hope against the tories with his endless incompetence.

My post from the Burnham thread.
I'm mixed on this. On one hand, she ran away from her left principles as soon as she got a seat at the top table, but on the other hand, kicking out the single parent, working class mum while Starmer has only been a spectator not an opponent, is terrible optics, and not what labour should be doing in my opinion.

Time for Labour to go for a vote of no confidence in Starmer and remove him.
No surprise. Only person to get me voting for Labour would be Wes Streeting, i think his central left stance in the current climate is the only way to move the country forward. However he'll never be leader of the Labour Party, so it's a redundant thought.

Former shadow chancellor John McDonnell said the decision to remove Angela Rayner as Labour’s chairman and campaigns chief was a “cowardly avoidance of responsibility”.
The senior party figure tweeted: “Keir Starmer said yesterday that he took full responsibility for the election result in Hartlepool and other losses.
“Instead today he’s scapegoating everyone apart from himself.
“This isn’t leadership, it’s a cowardly avoidance of responsibility.”

What a whopper of a bloke.
Needs to be accountability I guess so if not Starmer himself than who?

Yes exactly. So he is a liar as well as a coward because he stated that he would take full responsibility.

Wes is excellent.
I wouldn't be too sure he couldn't win in a future leadership election depending on who else stood.
Wes talks directly too and makes sense.

I hope you're right tbh. Yeah he's just what Labour need imo. Excellent as you say!

Taking responsibility for it needn't mean his stepping down.
Hartlepool was almost lost along with the rest of the Red Wall, so it falling now isn't a huge surprise. Keir's job is to turn the ship around and make Labour more attractive to "Joanna and Michael". It's not necessarily still Corbyn's fault, but Keir should have scrubbed his stink out of the party long before now.
He also should have made some of Labour's positions clearer - maybe not policies, it's a bit early at this point with the next election so far away, but at least some positions.

Sadly Labour which is my party.
Doesn't seem to choose the right and best leaders unfortunately.
Wes has just been on the news, I love his delivery of what he says too.
Straight to the point.
Whatever happened to David Miliband .. . I expected him to be the Labour leader at some time .... has he been involved in some kind of scandal or something ?

no leader of a party ends up taking responsibility unless they resign, and generally, they never resign without being given a solid push
Given that, he has to be seen to be doing something, i expect a few to be replaced this week and then some new messaging. At this point it will take a real shift if the tories are going to be stopped from winning another term

He's never going to win an election. He's exposed himself as a slimy, self-serving freak with absolutely no grasp of what Labour voters want. Then again... that usually wins elections.

:joker:
Couple of overreactions there. Is there someone who should have been fired, other than the person responsible for Labour's campaigning?
Rayner's most likely still going to have an important position in Labour, along with being Deputy Leader.
