There are few charges more grave. I should know: during 26 years as a
journalist in South Africa I investigated and reported the evil that was
apartheid. I saw Nelson Mandela secretly when he was underground, then
popularly known as the Black Pimpernel, and I was the first non-family
member to visit him in prison.
I have now lived in Israel for 17 years, doing what I can to promote dialogue
across lines of division. To an extent that I believe is rare, I straddle both
societies. I know Israel today – and I knew apartheid up close. And put
simply, there is no comparison between Israel and apartheid.

This spamming BS needs to end.
Even the author of that piece still calls it an injustice.
If I go and paste Andrew Feinstein - who was a south African politician who lost 40-50 family members to the ww2 camps, saying its apartheid, then this goes nowhere.
Post your points or argument if you have one.
Again, I trust the words of actual human rights agencies over opinions. I accept the truth regardless of what it is, I don't hunt around for opinion pieces that I like and confuse them for facts.
What do you call the attacks by Palestinians on Israelis?

Under international law, you have the right to a armed response if you are an occupied nation.
Palestinians are desperate, they aren't fighting back for a laugh.
Punching down used to be frowned on not supported.

But by international law, they are not an occupied nation..so have no right, nor reason to pick up arms.

A decades long tactic by them.

What? They are an occupied nation, and I don't think you'll find many people saying otherwise.
Israel is recognised as an occupier by the UN.

Israel is recognised as an occupier by the UN.
They camt be classed as being an occupied nation because the Israelis who settled there were not sent to occupy the areas, they moved at their own accord..
It's a bit like saying anyone moving to the uk is an occupier.

This just isn't true, Parm. Sorry.
This just isn't true, Parm. Sorry.
That's what I've just read on wiki
Israel has consistently argued that the settlements are not in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention since, in its view, Israeli citizens were neither deported nor transferred to the territories, and they cannot be considered to have become "occupied territory" since there had been no internationally recognized legal sovereign prior.[h

Israel has consistently argued...
The problem is that anyone arguing to protect their actions after the fact will make all kind of justifications for their crimes.
You don't evict people, bulldoze their homes, and wall them in if it's a choice.

Good to hear Joe Biden say
1. USA stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel
2. He recognised Israel's need to defend itself from attack
3.He will help replenish Iron Dome system

Really glad that Biden has promised to help with the Iron Dome system. If it wasn't for that, Hamas would have slaughtered hundreds, maybe thousands of Israelis.

Israel are a nuclear power, probably one of the most powerful countries in the middle east at this point. They don't need help protecting themselves when they just use Hamas as an excuse to oppress the Palestinian populace. Hamas is a terrorist organisation, Israel has a multifaceted military.
Honestly, it probably benefits Israel to keep Hamas around, it's the excuse and justification for their actions. Get rid of Hamas and it becomes harder to justify their abuse and violence of and towards the palestinian people. With Hamas though, they can keep the support of ignorant masses who think that human rights abuse is okay because brown person = terrorist.

Maybe Hamas kept track, the blood is on their hands for using civilians as human shields.

Maybe Hamas kept track, the blood is on their hands for using civilians as human shields.
The attacks by Israeli forces were not targeted.
They were indiscriminate and levelled residential areas.
Palestinians are seen as 'less than'. However you dress this up this is a human rights issue.
Nothing justifies this behaviour.
Tom4784
28-05-2021, 01:12 PM
These civilians wouldn't have died if Israel hadn't targetted their homes. You can twist the narrative all you want to blame someone else for the latest in Israel's war crimes but the fact remains. Israel chose to kill these civilians and they choose to do so often because they don't see the palestinians as people, just animals to put down.
It's why Israel is an apartheid state, it's why their soldiers regularly commit human rights abuse and murder. This is what happens when a nation gives way to far right leadership. Israel are committing abuses that are not far removed from that of China or even Nazi Germany.
