Joey was funny initially but they dumbed him down far too much and made him seem really thick by the end.

Chandler was hilarious all the way through.

I do love them all....Monica was probably my least fave, she was just shouty....but then at times she was funny too.

They all have their moments and it changed over the years. For example, Ross hit his peak in the middle seasons - was not funny at all in the earlier seasons, and TBQFH was a risk to himself and the public by the end. Joey likewise was one of the funniest for ALMOST the whole run but they made him FAR too dumb for the last 3 or 4. Monica was more annoying than funny by the end, too, and similar to Ross peaked in the "middle" seasons.

It depends on who they're with. Some characters play better off each other than others.

I dunno. I refuse to make a list. But roughly by "halves", top half Chandler/Joey/Phoebe and bottom half Monica/Ross/Rachel.

In terms of the "playing off each other" mentioned above, Chandler and Janice's interactions are easily some of the best in the early seasons. Joey's reactions to Janice in that mix as well :joker:.
