basically the main rules of Junior Eurovision are
- at least 80% of your entry must be in own language, rest of which can be in either english or another language of the artists choice
- two sets of voting, a jury voting of half of which are adult jurors and other half are child jurors, and televoting unlike adult esc, here people can vote for their own country
- just one grand final show, and usually on a sunday afternoon, near begin of the evening so let's say from 16:00 - 18:30 (UK time that would be 15:00 - 17:30)
- winning country does not necessarily have to host it the next year, but recent years this has been the case of the winning country hosting, this will be asked by EBU some time after the final

more possible nations competing
Kazakhstan highly likely to participate, given they are again invited by EBU
UK might return https://eurovoix.com/2021/05/21/%F0%9F%87%AC%F0%9F%87%A7-united-kingdom-ebu-working-to-get-the-uk-back-in-junior-eurovision/

Serbia, Malta also confirmed participation and started their preselection search
Nicky91

Kazakhstan well they need the invite by EBU but they have been proven to be quite popular/well liked, and very well capable to stage a song really well either, and being very competitive, so i think they are in, but it depends on EBU, they are eager to compete again at least
Albania well bit silent for now, but i hope they are in too
Armenia, idk about their current situation but the HoD had stated he wanted them to return to all eurovision events as soon as possible
UK, well now ITV has axed x factor, this opens up something for them, and EBU working about a return for them in earlier reports, this might be a nice new project for Simon Cowell for new young music talent (either a new show or one from the voice kids)

according to eurofestivales, another country is about to publicly confirm their participation
they still are waiting for permission to reveal the country, but it is about a returning country who took part in 2019 contest
so out of those countries, only Albania, Armenia, Australia haven't yet revealed their final decision
Nicky91
17-08-2021, 01:50 PM
am also curious if UK has said yes to EBU's offer
the country who think that news is about, might be Armenia
Kazakhstan have said nothing but tbh they rely more on invites from EBU only, and they stated last year december they are again very much interested for another participation
Nicky91
18-08-2021, 03:43 PM
the country in discussion was Albania, yes after one year of absence due to covid pandemic, they are back

Scenario A
Under this scenario, the contest would take place with no restrictions for the contestants, delegations, press or audience. The last contest to be held under these conditions was in 2019.
---------------------------------------------------
Scenario B
This scenario would be similar to the scenario used for Eurovision 2021. Social distancing and other sanitary measures would be in place for anyone attending the contest. All participants would have to record a “Live on Tape” performance in their home countries, in case someone in a delegation is infected with Covid-19 during their stay in Paris. A maximum audience of 3,500 people would be allowed at both the jury show and the live show by the organisers but the exact number would be subject to the number of infections at the time of the show. In order to gain access to the venue, a proof of a recent negative Covid test (no longer than 48 hours before entrance) would be required. The press centre would comprise of a physical part in Paris and an online part.
-------------------------------------------------
Scenario C
This scenario is similar is similar to Scenario B except that travel restrictions would be in effect for certain delegations. For those delegations unable to travel to Paris, their “Live on Tape” performances would be used as their official performances, similar to Australia in Eurovision 2021.
------------------------------------------------------------
and a last resort Scenario D, the scenario in which Junior Eurovision 2020 was organised, which would see all delegations stay at home, is likely to be discarded after the successful organisation of Eurovision 2021 and low rate of positive tests during the contest. However, the scenarios may change due to the evolving nature of the pandemic. A final decision on which scenario would be used is expected to be taken in September. The EBU will also announce the full list of participating countries within the next few weeks.

yes good choice this one, and also nice transitioning from german to english and vice versa, and a very lovely empowering message too, fits into the ''christmassy'' theme perfectly

my top so far
1. Netherlands (sorry not sorry for my bias maybe but us including japanese in the entry is a wonderful move, also this song fits into the christmassy theme nicely as well)
2. Spain (its a good uptempo song, better than last years Palante for me personally)
3. Germany (remains quite a nice feel good song, definitely a improvement from last years debut entry)
4. Poland (meh, nothing special, i don't get why some others got winner vibes with this, more effort have went into music video rather than the song which is bit mediocre, only like its instrumentals i guess near the end)
5. Malta (awful, with the rapping trying to copy BGT's bars & melody but utterly failing, this could be contender for last place i think, worst out of the reveals so far)

Dziennik Eurowizyjny reports that broadcasters have currently not been requested by the EBU to film backup performances for Junior Eurovision 2021.
According to sources speaking to Dziennik Eurowizyjny, broadcasters have not been told by the European Broadcasting Union to film backup performances for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The European Broadcasting Union has yet to comment publicly on the scenario under which the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will be held.
For Junior Eurovision 2020 filming of backup performances in the proceeding six weeks before the final was broadcast on November 29. Spain filmed their performance seven weeks in advance of the contest, while Germany recorded their performance a matter of days before the final. If delegations were to start recording their performances in line with the 2020 contest, recordings would likely commence from the first week of November.
As of the end of August, four potential scenarios were being discussed by the EBU.
Scenario A
Under this scenario, the contest would take place with no restrictions for the contestants, delegations, press or audience. The last contest to be held under these conditions was in 2019.
In order to gain access to the venue, proof of a recent negative Covid test (no longer than 48 hours before entrance) would be required. The press center would comprise of a physical part in Paris and an online part.
Scenario C
This scenario is similar to Scenario B except that travel restrictions would be in effect for certain delegations. For those delegations unable to travel to Paris, their “Live on Tape” performances would be used as their official performances, similar to Australia in Eurovision 2021.
Scenario D
Scenario D, the scenario in which Junior Eurovision 2020 was organised, which would see all delegations stay at home, is likely to be discarded after the successful organisation of Eurovision 2021 and low rate of positive tests during the contest. However, the scenarios may change due to the evolving nature of the pandemic.
The 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place in La Seine Musicale, Paris, France on Sunday 19th December. The contest will be hosted by France for the first time following Valentina’s victory at the 2020 contest with her song “J’imagine”.

only remaining songs yet to be released are from
Azerbaijan for Sona Azizova
and Armenia's entry (heavily speculated everywhere the artist is Malena) and apparently there was a song snippet online for a brief moment, and the song is influenced by Rosalia's music, so very much a latin feeling (language wise not sure how much of it in english but IT MUST include armenian otherwise it is a rule break)

In response to the exceptional health situation in Europe right now, and to ensure the presence on stage of each of our 19 artists, France Télévisions has decided to only admit an audience to the Live Show of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on Sunday 19 December.
Those who have booked tickets for the Dress Rehearsal on Saturday 18 December should contact La Seine Musicale directly. They can receive a full refund or transfer their tickets to the Live Show on Sunday 19 December.
Tickets are still available for the live broadcast of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest via the La Seine Musicale website where health and safety measures for attending the show can also be found.

a eurovoix interview with the host entry Enzo
Thanks so much for talking to us Enzo, how are you feeling ahead of Junior Eurovision?
Super excited, I have worked so hard so I can’t wait to share all my joy and energy with the audience
You’re no stranger to performing on big stages having participated in The Voice Kids, what was that experience like?
It was an amazing experience, it taught me so much about the music industry and I learned so much from it!!
Not only do you sing but you also play the guitar, what made you decide to start to learn how to play it?
I was inspired by Ed Sheeran. I looked at how well he played guitar and it made me want to be like him.
When and where were you when you found out you would be representing France?
I was at home when the chief or delegation knocked on my door by surprise and announced to me that I will represent France at Junior Eurovision. I was so happy because it’s a dream come true!
You’ll be singing “Tic Tac”, what does the song mean to you?
It means so much to me because it’s a song with a very powerful message which talks about time and how time moves so fast, and that is important to think in the present moment.

interview with Georgia's artist Niko
How does it feel to be representing Georgia in Paris in a week’s time?
I think it is both a great honor and a great responsibility.
What made you decide to apply for Ranina?
First of all, I wanted to test my abilities
How hard has it been to keep it a secret that you won Ranina from filming until it was broadcast?
It was a little bit difficult. I was really looking forward to being declared as the winner on TV, but the rules are rules.
What was the process like for recording your song?
It was time-consuming but at the same time it was the most memorable period as I spent it with my best friends from, Ranina- Gega Shonia, Rati Gelovani and Guga Nadiradze
You’ll be singing “Let’s Count the Smiles”, what is your favorite part of the song?
“If you believe me I believe you. I will sing with you
And the day become wonderful”
Who is your biggest musical idol?
My biggest idols are Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and Jamiroquai
Finally, what’s one thing about your country that you wished more people knew?
Georgia is one of the homelands of polyphonic folk music.

viewing figures are in
https://junioreurovision.tv/story/junior-eurovision-2021-viewing-figures-revealed
The 19th Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) broadcast on Sunday 19 December, reached a total of 33 million viewers, with the show recording its highest average viewing share since 2011.
Vital Statistics
4.5 million unique viewers also watched content around the event, including the Live Show, on our YouTube Channel.
An average TV audience of 7.5 million saw the 2021 competition which saw 19 countries take to the stage of La Seine Musicale in Paris in a spectacular Christmas-themed show hosted by France Télévisions.
The hosts delivered the second largest audience with 1.6 million tuning in to France 2. A year-on-year increase of 400,000 viewers.
Poland saw the biggest average TV audience for a third year in a row as 2.8 million watched their act Sara James finish 2nd in the competition. JESC 2021 attracted 4 times as many viewers than usual in the same slot to the 3 TVP channels it aired on.
Overall, 11 out 14 markets recorded saw larger audiences than are normally received by their broadcaster in that slot.
In the winning country, Armenia, on average 43% of all TV viewers watched JESC 2021 on AMPTV who will host the 20th Eurovision Song Contest later this year.
Iceland, who didn’t take part but aired the competition for the first time, recorded a share of 96%!
Young Audiences
Junior Eurovision’s appeal to young audiences was clear.
The Contest delivered a 12.6% viewing share among children aged 4 to 14, up 59% on the average normally achieved by the group of broadcast channels of 7.9%; and the 2.5-hour event also delivered an 11.2% viewing share among 15 – 24-year-olds, more than twice than the average number normally achieved by the same group of broadcast channels of 5%.
Those numbers were also reflected online. On social media the Contest saw its best year ever.
There were 8.3 million video views on TikTok and 5.7 million video views and 23 million impressions on Instagram, the Contest’s most popular digital platforms.
A record number saw content on Instagram with engagement up 166% year on year and up 728% on Facebook. On Twitter, engagement was up 64% with posts on the channel being seen 4.3 million times throughout the week of the event.
The posts of winner Malena, who sang Qami Qami, were seen 2.2 million times across Facebook (1.5k), Twitter (395k) and Instagram (362k).
