[1St Title : Ryanair plane flying from Greece to Lithuania has been diverted to Minsk]
[A Ryanair plane flying from Greece to Lithuania
has been diverted to Minsk,
with Belarusian opposition figures
saying it was done so a dissident
journalist on board could be arrested.
The opposition Nexta channel on
Telegram said its ex-editor
Roman Protasevich had been detained.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda
accused Belarus of an "abhorrent action"
and demanded his release.
Belarus state media said the plane
had been diverted because of a bomb scare.
Opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya,
who was beaten by Alexander Lukashenko
last year in presidential polls widely
denounced as rigged,
also demanded Mr Protasevich's release.]

This cannot be allowed to happen.
Think of the trauma too to other passengers.
This has not ONLY to must have the lip service condemnation but have all Nations absolutely furious such an act could be done.
However massive repercussions must come into being against Belarus for this, and for any other leaders and Countries that support it.
Air travel has to be safe, when incidents happen, other government's of the World talk big but end up doing very little.
Including ours.
This issue is extremely concerning it could even be thought of never mind carried out.
An air travel company has to be able to ensure the safety of it's passengers.
This is horrendous and frightening.
it's very difficult for countries to take any meaningful action. They can apply more sanctions, but they are pretty meaningless. By stopping the airline, they are basically cutting of any residents means of escape from the country. We wont be going to war over it, and they have Russia's backing should the UN try to do anything. So, i'm afraid it's not looking too good for the guy they grabbed

no fair enough, i can see why some see Lukashenko as dictator
but not me
the real threats to EU and europe are Hungary's Orban, Turkey's Erdogan those two i find more radical especially the latter whom had been heavily involved in that azerbaijan-armenia conflict
Lukashenko is more a ''controversial leader'' same as Poland's Duda
Putin is a good leader (ok his views regarding Ukraine not so much or at least that is more complicated so i'm not judging him on that) but i'm looking forward to Putin & Biden meeting next month (also good things what Putin has done, such as support for Italy in coronacrisis, willing to share Sputnik vaccine with some countries who are interested (Italy, Germany, few others)

tbh Lukashenko had built a special prison complex for the journalists and protesters, so they aren't in same prisons as murderers or rapists or the real criminals anyway
as for the air travel, well i can't blame them getting kinda paranoid now

yes very sad, but Lukashenko is sadly not the only bad leader
up there alongside Hungary's Orban and Turkey's Erdogan for me personally
Poland's Duda is controversial, but still he wants to listen to opposition that is at least something
Russia's Putin well he can be called many things but he won't go as radical as a Lukashenko, Erdogan, Orban mainly because he is very patriotic for his country, most of Putin supporters are tbh, and Putin at least is willing to send help to other countries amid coronacrisis for example (or now going in talks with US president Biden in Switzerland pretty soon from now)
