View Full Version : Would you ever intervene in nature to help animals?

If you ever stumbled on an animal about to kill another helpless and defenceless animal and you had the power to stop it, would you?
This is based on a clip from last year in which a man saved a deer from a python, which left the internet divided over his actions.

I don't enjoy saying it, but no I wouldn't. The snake is just as valid as the deer and would go find another deer anyway. =/

Why did he get backlash for saving the deer? He didn't kill the python.

To be fair... they need to eat so the two options are;
1) It didn't eat and so he did kill it, or
2) The much more likely scenario - it immediately went and ate a different deer or other animal, so... really what's the point.
I don't think it slithered off for a Spicy Bean Burger.

when you only eat 4 times a year you would be pissed if someone came and robbed your dinner

I mean, I wouldn’t jump in front of a lion to save a gazelle, but I’ll chase my cat away from a bird, so I guess so

Nice idea to save a defenceless animal , but if it's a predatory dangerous animal that's attacking then you're putting yourself at risk .

Ok sarcy arse. :oh:
Still no need for any backlash imo. He didn't kill it and the snake most likely found food elsewhere.

Yeah I've saved bird's from next doors cat a few times and I'd have done the same as the guy in the video and saved the deer.
I know some would be angry but I couldn't watch it happen and not stop it.

I've saved birds from stalking cats yes.
This maybe not under the banner of nature but more the despicable.
However at 16, with friends we came across a fox hunt.
Where we grabbed the near exhausted fox got him on our bikes and got it to safety.
It was terrified.
Later once the sickening creeps who were hunting were done, we took it back to let it go to its home.

Thank you Amy.
That we don't know of course.
We for a time after that used to go with anti hunt protesters after that.
I once when younger saw hounds catch a fox, the memory of it has stayed as a horrific one ever since.
You are right fox hunting is evil.
I've not a scrap of time for anyone who thinks it sport.

Yeah it's rancid, to me if you enjoy hunting an animal and seeing it ripped apart you need help.

It's grossly sick.
I've been against it ever since I knew what it was.
I'd hunt the creeps who do it myself.

Yeah I have zero empathy for poachers or sport hunters, the less of them the better and that's without seeing anything like you have, must have been so upsetting.
You've definitely saved one by saving it that day but going out with the subs too you've probably saved countless countless foxes and their cubs too

I’ve saved birds/mice and moles from my cat..as it’s bought in as a gift. I just gave her loads of praise though. I admire anyone saving the life of an animal..but it’s nature and animals like this have to survive.

I wouldn't intervene if it was a fox with a rabbit as they need to eat, but a dog or cat who get fed by hoomans, yes I would intevene and regularly shoo next doors cats from the trees in my garden as they are bothering the birds, this is why I could never have a cat

But you're more than happy to eat a bird yourself no? :conf:
