When a crocodile grabbed her sister, there was only one option for Georgia Laurie - she punched it in the face.

The 28-year-old twins were swimming in Mexico when Melissa was grabbed and dragged underwater by the reptile.

The sisters were in a lagoon near Puerto Escondido, on Sunday, when the attack happened, where they'd gone to see turtles.

They'd been travelling, volunteering and working in animal sanctuaries - sister Hana tells Radio 1 Newsbeat.

While they were swimming, Melissa disappeared under the water and Georgia had been trying to find her.

Crocodiles try to drown their victims.

"Georgia found her unresponsive and started to drag her back to the safety of a boat," says 33-year-old Hana from Alton in Hampshire.

"She dragged her back as the crocodile kept coming back for more - so she just started hitting it.

"She'd heard that with with some animals, that's what you've got to do."

Hana says Melissa was thrown about like a "rag doll" by the crocodile.

"Luckily, her super-badass twin sister was there to punch it repeatedly - as it came back about three times - to try and save her."

OMFG I've literally swam in lagoons at Puerto Escondido. AT NIGHT!
I didnt even realise there were crocs in that ****.

I was swimming at night becasue the lagoons have a lot of Bioluminence in them so they light up as you swim through them. No one ****ing warned me about crocs!!!!

Confirmed, they went to the exact same lagoon as me
"Manialtepec lagoon, ten miles to the north, where millions of tiny plankton emit ultraviolet light, lending the lagoon an ethereal glow at night."
Crazy, this could have been me guys.

They have to go to Carrizalillo beach when they are there. Honestly its one of my top 5 beaches in this world. It absolutely stunning. I cannot wait to go back one day.
