i mean once installed the programs/apps are on your PC, right

and many years ago i also never did update those, never knew it was possible back then

this store problem is really working on my nerves now, the notknowingness of it all

and also my microsoft account profile icon not visible in my apps either today, which i also go stressing about

not a nice feeling this :(

yes i admit, i am kinda a perfectionist, who wants everything to work great as it should

i mean my apps do work, and it shows i am logged in too, but weird that my profile icon isn't appearing, (is also sometimes the case online, on bing search, also shows i am online but not showing the profile picture)

quite unhealthy my stressing too ugh

Your microsoft account might be logged out. Check your notifications sidebar, there might be one that says something like "There's a problem with your Microsoft account" - usually you just need to put in the password to sort it.

It's not really an issue though unless it's trying to verify windows activation status. Go to Windows Activation in settings (start menu - type "settings" - type "activation" in the find a setting box) and it should say "Windows is activated with a digital license" on that screen. If it does then you're fine. If not then it'll tell you what to do :hee:.

To answer your actual title; you do need to be logged in to MS Store to get updates to your MS apps. Whether or not that's a problem is really up to you. You don't "need" updates but might want them .

in microsoft speak, you need to be logged in to your microsoft account to get the fullest experience, however what it actually means is you need to be logged in so they can track the hell out of you

nothing wrong with my account, i am logged in but the store just keeps loading, so i'll just ignore the whole thing for a while (few months, years idk)

on my apps also it shows i am logged in, otherwise indeed i get a message to log in, as for my profile picture not appearing, must be some random glitch i think, also not paying too much attention anymore into that cause i need to relax more

If the store won't load at all... The microsoft store can actually randomly "break", I've had it happen before, it's not necessarily a problem if you don't need it but the bad news is, the only way I could find to fix it was to totally reinstall Windows from scratch :worry:.

it only loads until main page, but you can't do anything from there

well i never needed it for many many years like i said, i never had updated my programs after installation before

ok i had a optional update today at windows update

install at your own choice, KB5004476

i had a bad experience regarding the reboot afterwards, it just disabled my screen, and i had my dad manually turning the computer off, and then on, and then it finished the update installation

this specific update is a ''out of band fix update'' meant for people who use the store, and xbox games

so it is recommended for those who had problems with the store, and/or gaming issues

the store worked again, for now

it had 3 app updates and another store experience host update (hope this one isn't faulty then)

so i guess the fix had worked, i guess something good came out of this mess after all

now i hope my computer isn't ruined since i manually shut it down, well tbh i didn't have another option but to manually shut it down

i am such a ''stresschicken'' a saying we use in dutch stresskip, when it comes to computer troubles :joker:

lesson learned for me anyway, i won't go installing every optional update anymore from now on

hope normal updates still will be going without problems anyway but every normal main update he does automatically too

https://www.windowslatest.com/2021/06/22/windows-10-kb5003690-21h1-20h2-released-with-a-speed-boost/

here you got one again, not installing this one, another optional fix update (had a fix update recently anyway installed and i don't need another one)

time for me now to focus on automatic important updates only, since every update also takes up a lot of space

and we saw what happened last time with a fix update either, with my monitor screen being shut down, going stuck, not wanting that again so i am learning from my past mistakes

and as for June updates i already have 2 major updates and one fix so that should be ok as well
