well I suppose in some ways it will be mandatory for instance if countries currently only asking for adults to be vaccinated ask for this to be extended to over 11s? While parents could take the view that they would only holiday in the UK, any future school trips for starters could be impacted...so maybe she is thinking further down the line where it is mandatory in a sneaky way

If the world had ever been (in living memory, anyway) a borderless free-for-all where we were free to travel as we pleased then that could almost be a point... but it wasn't that pre-covid. I guess that's harder for people in this country to appreciate because we did have VIRTUALLY free movement in terms of travel before Covid. Easy to forget that there have always been hoops to jump through to cross borders, and that there being restrictions on what you can and can't do without vaccination doesn't mean it's "mandatory".

I would however be very much against any legislation that would stop kids accessing education etc., as I always have been for vaccination.

That's when it starts to become "effectively" mandatory. My reasoning is the same as ever. Too much of a slippery slope to start making ANY medical procedure mandatory.

If you go to certain areas vaccinations for Cholera and Hep B and other diseases are mandatory, that is why schools tend to stick to places in Europe that don't require vaccination or go to the States...

Not going to lie, some of those are not great at all. 20% fever over 40? :umm2:. I'd also have to query what an "adverse event" is.

It's also looking like vaccinating under-12's at all is a no-no with this data, high fever in young children carries far too many risks with a figure that high.

To be fair it's 10 in 10000 "life threatening condition" which doesn't mean 10/10k death. My immediate assumption is brain swelling though which carries other risks besides death (permanent disability).
