Right I've come up with a game where each week the selected person who has signed up has to put up a link to three songs that have not currently been released yet in this country by the time they have put the songs. The other members signed up to the game rate each track on a scale of 1 to 10 and give a little review of what they thought of it by the end of that week,at the end they will obviously be left with a score out of 30.

You will be allowed to put up tracks off of albums that have not been released as singles but make sure the album was released this year if you are putting up tracks from albums.

Once everyone has took part the member(s) with the highest score will be crowned king/queen on new music on tibb.

Just reply if you wish to take part or have any questions about this game.I'll leave registrations open for a week.

I hate gong first, I am all fingers and thumbs. Lol. Do I have to start on Saturday then? I would also like to clarify a few things:

1) You say "at the end they will obviously be left with a score out of 30". How so? If members are rating on a scale of 1-10, and there are more than 3, then points can be higher? Does it not depend on how many members are playing?

2) Is this a one off or a continuous thing?

Answers on a postcard...............................

ps. Answer back quick as I need to go searching for some phat toons!

Mrluvaluva

Other questions!

1) Do the other members only have a certain amount of time to review the tracks, and if so, how long do they have?

2) When does the next member get to start? (Well I suppose that depends on the answer to question 1).

I meant out of 30 from each person :blush2:

2) Is this a one off or a continuous thing?
You just have one turn to put three songs up.

3) Do the other members only have a certain amount of time to review the tracks, and if so, how long do they have?

The songs will put up on a Friday and have to be reviewed by the next Thursday and then another 3 songs will go up on a Friday.

1) Joss Stone - Tell Me What We Gonna Do Now

She's gone downhill in terms of her quality of music. This song's a bit bland, to be honest - and is a bit like the sort of song you expect to be album-filler  I give it 5/10

2) Timbaland - The Way I Are

Umm...this has been released as a single. It's currently at No#6. However, I love it - I'm ashamed to, but I do! It's very funky, and sounds very Justin Timberlakish. 8/10

3) Ali Love - Secret Sunday Love

Not bad, but not outstanding. It's a bit bland really...but I can see it being the sort of song that grows on you. 7/10

---------------------------

Edited - 1 & 3 have grown on me slightly

track one

Joss Stone is not a favourite of mine but I didnt dislike this song, I agree though that it is more an album filler 5/10

Track 2

Hated it, in fact turned it off half way through, remember I am a granny! seriously though sounds much like other songs, there is nothing that stands out and makes it unique 3/10

Track 3

Loved it, had a very human league feel to the start of the vid, music not drowning out the words which is always good, Yep I liked it 8/10

Billy
13-07-2007, 10:42 AM
Track 1 - Had anyone else been singing this song I would have said its oki, but Joss' is just so different she just sounds so different and i really enjoyed it. 8/10

Track 2 - Couldnt listen to it all. 2/10

Track 3 - Errr it was okay, really different. 6/10

BigSister
13-07-2007, 01:00 PM
Track 1: I like the tune but not a big Joss stone fan but ill give it 6/10
Track 2: Im not really into that type of music sorry Baz so im gonna have to give it low ill give it a 5 though
Track 3: certinaly different probably my fave out of the three ill giive it an 8 ^_^

1) Joss Stone - Tell Me What We Gonna Do Now
Bit disapointed. Thought it'd be really upbeat, catchy like most of her songs. It is an album song so I'll give it the credit. 5/10

2) Timbaland - The Way I Are
Really like this song. I love the bridges. Quite a good summer song. 8/10

3) Ali Love - Secret Sunday Love
My least favourite, he's really Calvin Harris type, and I don't like that. 3/10

Dr43%er
16-07-2007, 01:42 PM
1) A song with no redeeming features what so ever. Get your self back to the west country and your roots and find your soul again. That's soul not $oul.

2/10 and that's for Dunst in the video.

2) At first it got my attention but very soon it drifted in to boredom. I found my self skipping through it to see if it did anything different to keep me interested. It didn't. From the first 20 seconds it did exactly what I thought it would. Background music for a bar, fine. Would i spend my money on it and listen to it at home? No.

4/10 for the bass line and potential. Must try harder.

3) Now, this appeals more to the inner 80's child in me. It kept me interested
all the way through. Something was bugging me though and I can't for the life of me think what it is. Is the hook sampled from something else? Once again I would not go buy this I would not turn the radio over if it was on.

6/10.

I must admit I am a hard person to please but I like to think I am fair even to genres I don't like. Every year I judge for the local heats of Carling Undiscovered Live and i have put people through that i would never listen to at home on the quality of the music produced and the way they do it.

I can't wait for my turn so you can slag my stuff off in return.

natjake2504
16-07-2007, 01:53 PM
1. - loved it thought it was good 8/10

2. sorry could not listen to that 1/10

3. i like this one - dont know why cant put my finger on it but yeah i think it was really good. 09/10

thanks baz

I though I would go for some proper unknown stuff with my first two.

Ok, a blatant plug for a mates band. They have been in the "what's on the NME stereo" section a few weeks ago (White Stripe issue) Being tipped for big things apparently. Steve Lamaqu (sp) likes them. Brilliant live with a bass line that will digest your food for you.

Tired Irie - Terrafirma

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX1XyZJpAb8

Their myspace. http://www.myspace.com/tiredirie

For my next one it is another mates band, well more of a side project from his main band. This one is darker and a bit more experimental so I know it won't score well, but I am not here for love or points. But to expand your min..... I'll shut the **** up and give you the link.

Tenacity? - SHOEGAZER

You have to go to their myspace http://www.myspace.com/tenaciousness
and click on the top song on the player.

If you want the video, stop the player, scroll down to the first video thing and clicky click.

And for my last one. Not mates this time. I saw these on the second stage at Leeds 02 this year. I had never heard of them but walked away with a smile on my face. Happy go lucky indie pop. I shall be looking them up at Reading this year.

Pete and the Pirates - Come On Feet.

Do your worst.

Tired Irie - Terrafirma

Was ok. Not really my type of song. It's not a memorable piece. Easily forgotten and I would not buy it. I can't see this one growing on me. The video turned into a solo version of "Praise you" by Fatboy Slim, 4/10

Tenacity? - Shoegazer.

The beginning is very repetitive. It goes on for too long. I do like this a lot better than the first song though. I like the style of the vocals half way into it. I may listen to this one again. I like the twists in it. Not bad at all. 7/10

Pete and the Pirates - Come On Feet

The beginning reminded me of the La's or something. Late 80's Madchester, but with a definite sixties feel to it. Still very new though and I think very different from anything else around. Playing this one again as we speak. 8/10

2) Shoegazer - nice tune, and was catchy - the vocals aren't too great but I don't mind  - 8/10

3) Come On Feet - nice Britpoppy feel to this, like Supergrass, and so it scores big with me. Genuine happy feel to it :colour: 8/10 again.

natalia2504, I don't think Tenacity? have any plans to release stuff as it is a side project for both of them. They have done one live gig in front of about 40 people and it went down really well but that was ages ago. I would say your best bet would be to join their myspace. Don't expect updates any time soon though.

As for Pete a t p. I have no idea.

That's how I read the rules. For instance I doubt my number 2 track will ever get a release. Baz went for people we have heard of and there new stuff, I went for total unknowns. Thats what i like about this game. The picks are going to be so random. I may just find something new i like.

Mika-Billy Brown-It was just alright for me, I'm not really a fan of Mika's voice so that kind influences my score.5/10

Maroon 5-Wake up call-I'm a big fan of Maroon 5 and it's quite like one of my favourite tracks off their first album, just a really good song you can get well into.9/10

Feist-1,2,3,4-Pretty different to a lot of stuff around at the moment so it made a nice change, quite a cool track.7/10

Mika - Billy Brown - I'm not really a fan like Dan, but it was a good song. Wasn't put off. 6/10

Maroon 5 - Wake up call - Really good song, quite enjoyable. 8/10

Feist - 1,2,3,4 - Quite different although not my sort of thing. 5/10

Mika - Billy Brown - I am sorry Becca, but I really did not like this song at all. I found it boring and am not a fan on Mika anyway. I just did not find it pleasurable at all. I am afraid I will have to give it 2/10.

Maroon 5 - Wake up call - I do like Maroon 5 and I have heard this song several times before so it is familiar to me. However, I do not think it is one of their best. I will give it 6/10.

Feist - 1,2,3,4 - I was quite looking forward to this one with great anticipation, and to be honest, I was quite disappointed. Unmelodic, flat and uninspiring. The chorus did get catchier as it went on though. It may grow on me after a few plays. 5/10.

Sorry to be so negative.

Mika. A while back I pointed out that I would never get tiered of slapping him. He is like a bad Freddy Mercury tribute singer. That's enough about him. I will now go and listen to the song...........

1: Mika: Take a little bit of penny lane add a dash of killer queen. Mix with a splash of bouffant and self importance and you get this uninspired mess. Sorry.
The worst so far. 1/10 for the pretty colours on the cover.

2: Maroon 5: I will admit that for such a big band I know very little about them.
But this was a polished performance by a band that can obviously cut it live. A good funk/rock/pop combo that could have done with the BPM being turned up a notch. I quite liked it. 7/10.

3: Feist: Sorry, but I can't review this as i had forgot it by the time I had clicked on the reply box. Did nothing for me. Where have i seen her before? Was she on Jules Holland a while back? Anyway 3/10

Sorry.

I would say. But have had a few beers with him and we see each other to say hello most days. He works in my local. This also happens to be one of Tom from Kasabian's fav watering holes when he is in Leicester.

I am going to come across as a right miserable bastard if this carries on.

1.Daughtry-Breakdown.

Is that a bit of drop D tuning going on there? Not a bad thing may I add. Sort of a cross of Stained and Pearl Jam. Nice. Safe. Err, that's it. I am really not sure how I feel about this. As I say, its nice. 6/10

2.Example-So many roads.

Yer yer yer yer.
What can I say about this song,
Apart from the fact that it went on a bit to long.
It should have been about 30 seconds shorter,
But it flowed well, like mountain spring water.
Took a sample from a song I love,
Though I'm sure, Karen's smiling from above.
I like my rap that is English made,
Like Roots Manuver, Mark B and Blade.

We've only just begun.
Blah blah blah blah blah.
We've only just begun.
Blah blah blah blah blah.

The video gave props to Benny Hill,
Running round the track been chased by the old bill.
No doubt, this is a critique,
Of his life growing up on the street.
So over all what do I think of this track?
Will it have me going back an back an back?
Yes I will go listen again,
And on that note I'll give it 7 from the big 10.

We've only just begun.
Blah blah blah blah blah.
We've only just begun.
Blah blah blah blah blah.

3.Kelly Clarkson-Irvine.

Dull 2/10

1) Daughty - Breakdown - boring AND depressing. Can't find much good about this song to mention, sorry! 3/10
2) Example - So Many Roads - I found this quite catchy, even though I generally hate rap. The bloke sounds like one of the characters from Gorillaz (particularly in the song Clint Eastwood) So I give this 7/10.
3) Kelly Clarkson - Irvine - her voice sounds great in this song, really breathy and heartfelt, a bit like Eva Cassidy's. I'll give this 8/10.

Is it? That reminds me. I must book that holiday for my family, as my pleasure is in other peoples leisure.

The Fray - Look After You - Great song, didn't expect much from it. 8/10

Ben Harper - In The Colours - Not sort of thing, still a great tune. 6/10

Bens Brother - Find Me An Angel - Not my type of music, again. 4/10

1) The Fray - Look After You - I was worrying that it'd be another overplayed love ballad that'd grind my teeth to, but it's actually not that bad. The "Ohohohoh-ohohohoh" bit is a little annoying though, so I give it 6/10.

2) Ben Harper - In The Colors - I like his voice. The tune is very feel-good and catchy too, so this one's my favourite of the three. 8/10

3) Ben's Brother - Find Me An Angel - the background people going "WOO!" is a little annoying at the start, but the song is again very catchy. 7/10

The Fray - Look After You-They are one of my favourite bands and this is one of the best songs on the album.9/10

Ben Harper – In the colors-I could see myself chilling out to this song but I was not over keen on the guys voice.5/10

Bens Brother – Find me an angel-Quite a good little tune, sort of song you can tap your foot to.6/10

1: Great song i really liked it and i recognised it from listtening to the album first time round 8/10
2: It was ok but maybe a bit too slow for my liking 6/10
3: It was an okish song but probbaly nothing i would listen to 7/10

1: Is this the bastard child of Travis's and Keane incestuous relationship? This is no different to any indie kid band ballad from the past 20 years. Same BPM. Same chord progression. Same mumbled vocals. Nothing wrong with it, but it has been done to many times before. 4/10

2: Fat happy man on a bass guitar. Good start, oh hang on. Man on piano with one of those hats Gilbert O'Sullivan used to wear. Not good, wait.... Bloke on drums with one of those hats so much loved by the ska boys. Getting worse. And there it is, the man on the bongo's with a pork pie hat. The over use of pretentious hats in the video pretty much sums up the song. 3/10

3: Any band that aspire to be Toploader deserve a quick kick in the balls. 2/10

The Fray - Look After You - Love The Fray. They are like the new Coldplay. I loved this song. And I know the more I hear it the better it will get. I need to dig out the lyrics. 9/10

Ben Harper - In The Colours - Reminded me of Paul Weller for some reason. A touch of Motown in there too (ever so slight). Nice to listen to on a sunny Saturday afternoon and chill with a beer. 7/10

Bens Brother - Find Me an Angel, The Borderline - Quite like this, and I am sure again it will grow on me. 7/10

Nice choices Sunny.
