It seems like financial control doesn't just mean management of the finances she already has - it also means managing what she does/her work and "making money" which is utterly bizarre. Especially if they're saying she has a serious chronic (and in fact terminal) condition. Dementia prognosis is not good. Why on earth would they be sending her out to do more work, if their concern was for her health.

If you're just concerned about someone being responsible for their financial position and not able to control that themself, all that's really needed is control over the estate, the person given a reasonable "allowance" from their estate to do whatever they want with (without access to the bulk to risk bankrupting themself) and a requirement that they co-sign any contract or legal document (to keep them protected from making poor "big decisions" and from scams).

That's not uncommon when people are vulnerable; mainly for that last part (keeping them protected from scammers who will take advantage). But day to day spending and living? Should ALL still be up to them unless they are profoundly disabled. In this case, she quite clearly is not, and they don't consider her to be either, because they've had her on TV and doing shows! :umm2:

It's a disgusting situation, and it's a complete failure of the courts that this was allowed to happen and continue to happen for over a decade. Britney must be freed from her father's control. If someone HAS to take care of her financial situation, it should be a professional neutral party, but no one should be making life decisions for her, telling her she can't marry someone she's been with for years and literally forcing medical procedures on her to stop her having kids. Jamie Lynn is on Britney's pay role despite not even living on the same state. She and their brother Bryan used Britney's name to get Jamie Lynn her own show.

Looking at the whole article it's actually a little complicated, legally. They can't remove the conservatorship entirely because she hasn't made that request... that option isn't on the table at all... so they've ruled that it should continue as it is rather than her father being removed and it continuing under just the law firm, but that DOESN'T actually mean they wouldn't rule to end the conservatorship if that was requested... but it would have to be filed as a request to end it, not alter it :think:.

The article also suggests that he hasn't taken an active role in the conservatorship "due to poor health" since 2019 and has no direct contact with her... but that's coming from him/his lawyers so who knows.

It COULD explain, I suppose, why it seemed to be a complete information black-out for so many years but has become much more public recently... indeed probably since around 2019.

…she’s obviously fighting to have her conservatorship terminated and her lawyer was a huge part of that control surely, as he was court appointed to act for her father in continuing her control…so him resigning may be a positive sign, is how I’m thinking…but I don’t know if that’s correct thinking…it feels that his resignation is one less control in her life and hopefully good for her future ….

Hard to draw much from it really - the most likely reason is that they have no personal stake in this and it’s gone very public at this point, so any involvement is a potential risk to reputation. They’ll just be distancing themselves from a situation because they knooow that it’s Toxiiic. … …

The question of course is CAN she appoint a lawyer who is actually on her side? I think she needs an ethical group to do it pro-bono or for one of these very rich, vocally supportive, celebrities to hire a good lawyer for her.

But then the complicated part is, possibly, she needs the permission of the conservatorship itself to even have another lawyer?

Probably why it’s such an impossible situation. How do you escape something via legal action, if you need that things permission to pursue legal action?

…actually having her audio testimony going public like it did was heart breaking and has really injected so much energy into this like we’ve never seen before …I don’t do social media as you know but I’m hearing how crazy it is with support for her and many more celebrities speaking out as well in the #freeBritney…so I’m hoping that this is really going to lead to a change in her life this time…
