I'm in my room. Mother starts screaming.
I put on my flip flops to investigate the drama.
Walter, the dog, has had a baby pigeon in his mouth.
Mother is crying and gets Father to pick it up.
We've left it near the hedge hoping the mother of the pigeon will come help it.
I have looked closely and there's respiratory output. It has lost half a dozen small feathers.
Do you think I should put some sugar and water on a spoon and try and feed it through the beak?
I've never felt so sorry for a pigeon.
Walter has been summons to his cage. :bawling:

I've just checked on it and it's moved closer to the hedge so I think it might have just been in shock.

Its normal for cats and dogs to do.

If it's a baby, I would imagine it will have fallen from the nest so doubt its the dog's fault. To be fair, if you can humanely end its suffering, that will be fairest.
Edit: just seen the pic and it would appear to be older than I was imagining as it has flight feathers. I would leave it and let nature take its course....if its just stunned it will fly off when its had a rest

If it looks like it has a chance then give it one.
If it’s insides are hanging out then put it out of its misery.

A cat or fox will have got it overnight if it was unable to fly unfortunately

As you know I’m always one to give you a slice of life
A few years back on a road not far from me a guy was taking an injured pigeon to the vets an was killed in a head on smash.

It's not there this morning.
I suspect it got the strength to move and/or mother helped it.

Mother thinks it might have been a dove.
Fun facts; Pigeons have very slow processing speeds, especially if preoccupied.
I remember the time driving into Morris car park and there were 3 of the blighters. It happened so fast that I couldn't brake in time. I just saw a puff of feathers out my rear window.
It's such a shame.
It's like the kangaroos in the bush, they don't stand much of chance come dusk and dawn when they come out. When I was in the bush at those times, I had to swerve them constantly as they'd come out of nowhere.
If safe to do so I perform an emergency stop.

I've had a very serious word with Walter and Bella before they go on their walk today.
I don't know how you embed YT links...

…Walter the dog probably found the pigeon/dove in the vulnerable state that he brought it to you so he was part of the rescue team also….like a paramedic Walter….
