The 25-year-old plumber from Wigan made his debut on Thursday evening's show, after which fans sourced a comment made on Instagram in 2019
Fans feverishly called for him to be kicked off the ITV2 show
His father Richard has now apologised on his behalf, saying: 'Danny does not have a racist bone in his body and there were no racist intentions to this post'
His apology comes amid growing outcry from fans to eject Danny from the villa although ITV2 bosses are yet to announce a decision

I don’t disagree, I’m not even arguing that he shouldn’t be disqualified from the show for it, it’s a stupid and offensive thing to say and I can see how it can be deemed a racially insensitive thing to do. I think declaring someone “a racist full stop” for using it in this way is a bit of a stretch. Dumb and ignorant yes, racist :shrug:. Can’t really say either way.

But if an oversimplification really… it’s more that, when young people hear a word being used frequently in pop culture, it’s somewhat understandable if they’re too young/naive to understand why it isn’t appropriate for everyone to use the same word in the same context.

Again I’m not saying that I personally don’t understand it, or the reasons, or saying it should be ok… but I think understanding the politics, nuances and history of it is probably a lot to expect of people who probably left school 3 years ago, with 2 GCSE’s and a pat on the back.
