Phillip Morris has stated they will stop selling them
by 2030.
[The chief executive of tobacco business
Philip Morris International has called
on the UK government to ban cigarettes
within a decade, in a move that would
outlaw its own Marlboro brand.
Jacek Olczak said the company
could “see the world without cigarettes … and actually,
the sooner it happens,
the better it is for everyone.”
Cigarettes should be treated like petrol cars,
the sale of which is due to be banned from 2030, he said.]

I find it quite rare to see someone smoking these days, younger people seem to have switched over to vaping in most cases, mostly just over-50's that are still smoking.
Vaping needs more testing on long term effects though. My sister-in-law's boyfriend vapes constantly and my mother in law recently went round to their house (which she owns and rents to them), and sent my wife a horrified message & picture showing that the inside of the windows have this weird clear "film" over them that peels off... said it smells fruity... and we realised it's clearly vape residue! Surely having that **** coating the inside of your lungs can't be good. Probably far better than the tar/other crap from tobacco, but still.
And it least it smells nice :joker:.
…I don’t know if vaping is better, it’s different but it’s still so new….it’s such a worrying thought of oil being inhaled into the lungs….
…just a bit of smoking information…(…I presume it’s reasonably accurate…)….
….every day in England 280 children start smoking….. (…I don’t know how many smoking related deaths per day…)….
the problem with tobacco was the number of lethal toxins that you suck into your body. There seems to be some very dodgy vaping liquids that are probably equally if not more dangerous than tobacco and others that are regulated that are probably as close to fine as you can get. Anything in excess becomes toxic at some point

I only know one person who still smokes regularly. A few people I know smoke socially but only one.who is still an all the time smoker. Like TS I find it strange now if someone lights up around me. I know loads of vapers though....I used vaping to help quit the cigs but then giving up the vape was just as hard especially because then you could vape anywhere.

…also I think that some vapors still smoke cigarettes at times as well…so the toxins are just being added to and in the form of inhaled oils…
…at the weekend I saw someone riding a bicycle and smoking while they were cycling…it looked the weirdest thing ….

Yeah, vape produces condensation so if there isn't good ventilation you will get lots of vapey windows.
It's liquid vaper as the coil burns the liquid to produce the vapour.
I have been out this weekend so have smoked a couple of packets, but otherwise I am on the vape.
I would rather inhale 4 ingredients rather than 4,000.... and it's not the nicotine that is harmful, it's the tar etc.
Vapour is made up of only four ingredients, vegetable glycol, proprolyne (sp) glycol, nicotine and flavouring.

As for cigarettes being banned in the next 10 years.
I will believe it when I see it.
It makes too much money.

There was a spate of people getting ill from vaping, but I believe it transpired that those were mostly the ... "unofficial" brands ... (with THC in them).

Yes, unregulated..... the cases were mostly in the UK I think.
The other problem is with people who don't know how to use them.
Get a regulated mod or know the sciences behind ohm (basically, what watt you're firing the coil at) law if you don't want to blow your face up.
Also, people who don't take care of their batteries and leave them loose in bags etc. Disaster waiting to happen. But the cases are very low.

In 10 years time
Tax will not be the same
For example, you will have an Electric car
and in your case - it could be a rental.

An old staff member of mine had her vape pen melt through the pocket of her £200 coat in the staff room (clean through it, big charred hole). We all KNEW it was her vape wot did it but she claimed ... ... ... somehow, with a straight face ... ... that she had "a handful of coins" in the pocket, and the heater in the staff room (that sat a good 2+ metres from the coat hooks) had somehow superheated these coins, which had then melted through her coat from the inside.
... :umm2: ...
I had to applaud her storytelling but it was just so ridiculous - but she contacted the area supervisor and he authorised her to take £200 as compensation for the coat! Cash right out the bloody safe! And I had to put through the authorisation on our end .
Me looking at her as I did it;

Yeah that's ridiculous.
It's metal on metal. Nothing to do with heat. Vape pens/devices can tolerate getting extremely hot otherwise you wouldn't be able to change the wattage.
:joker::joker: Silly lady.
and if you get a regulated device it will auto-cut off before any damage can be done to the battery, but if it's going to come into contact with other metal then it's probably going to end badly.

[The i says tobacco companies are lobbying
the prime minister to increase Britain's smoking
age to 21, instead of pursuing an outright ban

On the front page of its weekend edition,
the paper says the industry sees
New Zealand's U-turn on its own similar

I am a smoker and it disgusts me, I know it is ruining my health and it is so costly. I could name a 100 good reasons for giving up but I just can’t seem to achieve it. I pray for a ban, as if ciggies weren’t available, it would solve the problem for me. I certainly wouldn’t go looking for them elsewhere.

I've had family members who are smokers who say similar things.
I hope that one day you can be free of smoking Cigarettes Garfie.

Thank you for your kindness, Mystic Mock, but I take full responsibility for my inability to get control of my situation. I feel very conscious of the fact that I should have the strength to change things myself, and hate my own weakness in failing to do so. I frustrate myself and my own mindset.
Heavy smoker June Brown aka Dot Cotton lived to the age of 95.
Processd food is a much bigger killer than smoking.
