I am in two minds, part of me feels its a huge shame as I’d absolutely love saturday nights to return to what they should be, but the other part feels like it’s for the best.

still pressed over how they completely ruined 2015's potential (louisa johnson, 4th impact, anton stephans, mason noise, kiera weathers, che chesterman, bupsi, lauren murray, reggie n bollie) by having 2 elims a week, throwing caroline/olly in the presenting gig, and replacing Louis/Nicole with Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw :umm2:
the finalists were a great lineup and they just... ruined it

It died years ago anyway so it is what it is. I’d be more concerned about The Voice getting axed.

Yeah sadly it lost its way. At its best it was amazing. But 2013 onwards it was rubbish. I assume Simon has a very similar show in the pipeline though. Basically X factor with a new name

They were never gonna top this year. 2008. Not a bad singer there at all. Love how Laura was given most of the vocals on this. Also how underrated were Rachel, Austin and Girlband. They sound incredible on this

X Factor didn't last that long in my nation :fan:
we after a short while saw no potential in this, since it had no added value for our music charts
one of my most watched talent shows was Popstars, i liked that, and also with the celebrity ''mystery popstars'' where you had to guess who was behind the coloured masks
our most famous tv judge HenkJan Smits, is either now a tv presenter for a home selling show ''Huizenjacht'' which is basically our own ''escape to the country'' but then different, not just the countryside
+ he also has been a jury member for us at eurovision song contest, few times already recent years, his taste is still the same as it was on Popstars, X Factor, Idols, more going for radio friendly/mainstream songs for his 12p/10p/8p
back on topic, what an achievement this long, but recent years the winners were all just duds ( x factor celebrity was entertaining though, acts like Vinnie Jones, Martin Bashir were really amazing, even if just no hopers)

It was messed about too much in the end.
It was fading really badly in the last 2 series, for me anyway.
It's like the end of an era but expected really.
ThomasC
29-07-2021, 08:18 AM
It will come back in time, just like BB but needs a rest.
Simon can focus on his other shows.
You shouldn't change what isn't broke and they messed about with the format too much.
I will miss it but I watched it more out of habit in the end.
It has produced some big stars though. The most shocking being Rylan who has just done so well for himself.

It was fun but the show just died out the last series I proper loved and enjoyed was 2011 in my opinion

2011
We’re the best series with talent and judging
it was fun in 07-12, everyone was talking about it in school the next day, it lost its way after the format kept changing

Isn't this old news . It's been over for a while .
When they did the celebrity version ,it seemed XF was axed from then.
Anyway I'm glad, but I stopped watching it a long time ago anyway as I hated how things were done and how people were treated.
And most of the judges were unlikable and got on my nerves.

Better late than never. It's been ****e for years, consisting mostly of novelty acts and sob stories.
The only great series there were was 2005, 06, 08, 09, 10 and 11. 11 was the last truly brilliant series. It should've ended there.

I think, from the start, The Voice has been more about just being a singing competition than X Factor, whose mission statement was to find the next big thing.
Little Mix and (some) of One Directions solo ventures are still ongoing. Leona gets a nice coin every Christmas I bet, Alexandra buzzing up the west end and Fleur is booked with her TV gigs but unless I’m missing some people not many are still going in successful directions?

The Voice over here has produced quite a lot of chart material
Maan for example biggest success right now, still trending, current (this year a HUGE no.1 hit with music in dutch, and keeps being in the picture/gossip if she'll represent netherlands at eurovision for quite a few years now but she wanted to discover her real artistic/musical direction first)
O'G3NE well after their dominant Voice win, a 11th place at eurovision 2017, most of their music is produced by their father Rick Vol, and even during the pandemic they had very successful livestream concerts which was attended by many over 100 or 200k people, not for free either but livestream ticket had to be purchased on their site
Duncan Laurence, quarter finalist at the voice, and winner of eurovision 2019
Bart Brandjes in one of earlier series of the voice, made the semi finals, and after the show signed a deal with motown records in the US
we also have attracted some big name singers to take part, such as Dilana (whom is famous from having been on Rockstar: Supernova)
even the voice senior is more or less successful for reviving careers from elderly music legends, has beens whom still sound pretty good at time of audition, and still a nice one for them to shine near the end of their lives basically, just few last performances to entertain the public

It should have ended when Little Mix won really, that was the last year it was genuinely good to watch.
The two eliminations a week really killed it though, people weren't given the chance to get behind somebody and have the fanbase grow like it did for the likes of Little Mix who slowly won people over.

The Voice hasn’t created a single star yet it’s still on TV Tbf
But to be fair, I don't think The Voice has ever suggested that success was guaranteed, since it was more about judging the singing alone. The X Factor on the other hand was built around the idea that the winner would become the "next big thing", but I can't think of a single winner that has ever achieved the level of 'stardom' that the show promised.

The show has produced many professional singers but I agree the aim was to find stars and in that vein it has failed.
IF Simon didnt want the show to become a joke then why was Louis Walsh on it for so many years? No Louis means no Jedward and no Wagner,

I feel as though Louis and Sharon, and to an extent Cheryl and Dannii, largely owed to the success of the show because they were entertaining enough to create memorable moments outside of just watching every-day people sing. But judging panels in later years didn't interact as well and weren't nearly as entertaining enough to keep the show alive.

Leona did absolutely amazing in the first few years she actually even made it pretty big in America. Even getting to sing the theme song in the massive avatar film. she's faded out in recent years and I want her to make it big again. She has an amazing voice

Been watching quite a few clips this evening iconic funny auditions. Best performances etc as well as the funny clips from Sharon etc and I have to say I'm gonna miss the X factor. But that's due to nostalgia of when it was good. The last few series of it were garbage so if it carried on it would have just been like that anyway. I'm gonna start watching all the old series on YouTube as all the episodes are on there

This doesn't surprise me as the Show did like to openly pick on some contestants anyway.
XF was full of Exploitation and mean tricks , and they cared more about ratings and drama than actual talent by looks of it. Doesn't sound like many of the acts got much support with their mental health.
Danyl Johnson is a perfect example of how badly contestants get treated , and what makes it worse is he was lifted up and praised to then be dragged down and kicked like he didn't have feelings.

Ahh Purple Rain... when I was a wee sprog of maybe 17, me and a friend were in a pub where a fine gentleman guitar player/singer was playing this, and we were belting out the chorus so loud that we couldn't speak for days afterwards. Good times.
Ruth's version is good too but my vibrato on the chorus was easily the superior performance.
