Kind of related, in this day and age i can't believe Sky get away with charging people extra for HD versions of their channels.

Is it? I've not had Sky TV for quite a while (i still have my internet with them though). I thought they still charged like £10 a month extra for HD?

Tbh it's been a long time coming.

The Streaming platforms are gonna wipe TV channels out.

It is still £7 a month extra for normal HD. Only certain channels though, you get any channels that are on Freeview HD without the HD subscription, but yeah it is ridiculous. We ditched it (all broadcast telly, cancelled the TV license) again about 6 months ago, after a 2 year Sky contract that crept up from £55 to over £80 a month within that time. We just don't watch broadcast telly any more . Swapped it for Plusnet broadband which has been just as good as Sky (after some initial teething problems, admittedly, and their router was TRASH but they do at least allow you to use aftermarket routers unlike Sky) at £25 a month including line rental. Basically I've got fibre broadband, Netflix (4k option), Disney+, Prime Video and Youtube Premium and it's STILL cheaper than a fairly basic Sky package... just crazy.

Do you get tv shows on Youtube Premium

Dunno to be honest, I don't think it ever really took off, but the number of ads on regular YouTube videos makes it unwatchable without premium at this point IMO.
