Feck off BoJo. Even if they have "changed" they're gonna be the same as any other islamic "government" - women will be (at best) second class citizens, being gay will be a crime, being anything but muslim will be illegal, children will be at risk of marriage ...
I don't care if they're changed, they shouldn't be treated as anything but the terrorists they are.
Is BoJo laying the groundwork for a partnership? I guess cosying up to China makes anyone look lucrative.
i think we have to deal with world realities, it's better to be on talking terms with these governments than not. If we isolate them, it will certainly be a hub for terrorists. We can't change the way they think any more than they can change the way we think

They haven't changed. They're just better at hiding how evil they are.
The taliban are there. Johnson discusses plans on how to deal with them, promoting the idea of pushing the moderates to the fore.
Can anyone think of a better idea?

They haven't changed. They're just better at hiding how evil they are.
Exactly.
If Johnson's able to be fooled by them.
I sincerely hope decent World leaders of other Countries aren't so easily fooled.

Probably so he can legitimise the idea of speaking with them and inviting them to the table...

Tbh if our government was on "talking terms" with the previous Afghani government, the Saudis, Hamas, and any others like them ... They may as well be the same with the Taliban. None are better than the others.
Exactly.

Never give a world leader too much credit. Especially the current and recent ones.

And people like to pretend that Labour's worse.
How many stupid leaders do the Tories have to go through before this Myth is changed?
I'm sure I posted a clip of Rocky Balboa saying "we all can change" in this thread
I must have imagined it.
I just thought there were similarities. That speech was to do with ending a war too (the cold War)

Isn't this what is called diplomacy
I doubt he believes they have changed but short of 'we are sending the troops back in' , they have to try and work with them

Sounds like a beaten wife saying, he's changed, I know he has.
