European championships final, not World Cup, that's next year

My mistake, had a few drinks to many but still the best year for British Sports

2012 Olympics was pretty good?

We massively over achieved in our Olympics/Paralympics campaign this year and we actually finished level on our London medal total in the Olympics (but we may be stripped of a medal)

My mistake, had a few drinks to many but still the best year for British Sports2012 would come into the equation, Bradley Wiggins won the tour de France, Rory Mcilroy won the PGA, then there was all the medals won at the London Olympics including that mad Saturday night. And the Paralympics was a huge success.

But we have massively over achieved in events this year and had a lot of unexpected results

What does it matter? You still did well.

Usually a host country does well in the Olympics regardless of the event. That's just how it goes.

But we were expected to do well but we wasn't expected to be the only country to ever match/exceed the total medals we won 2 games in a row after

Again why does it matter whether you were expected or not?

You still did it.

also hasn't been a better year for the Dutch either

PSV - having gotten a superb manager (Schmidt) and a worldclass superstar player (Gotze) great new transfers for this new season either (Ramalho, Drommel, Mwene, Vinicius) potential new rising superstar (Madueke) and a very amazing goalgetter (Zahavi)
---------------------------------------
Netherlands at olympics: quite a few unexpected medal wins

Paralympics many medal successes
-------------------------------------------------
Max Verstappen winning at the Zandvoort GP comeback
------------------------------------------------
us hosting a amazing eurovision song contest, 3 amazing shows, amazing interval act choices
-----------------------------------------------
Lotto-Jumbo having done fab in cycling, Roglic winning the Vuelta, Mathieu van der Poel having gotten the yellow jersey in Tour de France for multiple days
---------------------------------------------
Botic van der zandschulp surprising many with a long run in US Open
-------------------------------------------

all in all, great year in events for us so far :clap2: with still junior eurovision to come (hope we can up our game again, from a streak of 4th places recent two years)
