Really slow and quiet on here these days.

Are these the end days of Tibb or will it make a comeback?

I used to see this place as a community and a family. But over the past few years and particularly since Covid, the forum has changed.

I get that people move on in life, and Big Brother the TV show is over, but I didn't see this decline of the forum coming and it's sad.

Sadly it was always going to lose members when BB ended.

Hopefully something will come along that will help keep this Forum going.

Members had been leaving for a while, but users found a platform that suited their needs better, where they didn’t have to be amongst people they really didn’t like, and those users that left were the majority of the ones most likely to watch and discuss the international versions and other shows.

The forum continued well enough after BB died, it's only dying on it's arse now because a lot of regulars can't stand what the place has become. It might as well be an EDL forum at this point. What was a diverse forum full of people of different creeds, races, sexualities and beliefs has become a haven for racists and bigots.

Almost the entirety of the blame for that has to go to the admin for allowing bigotry to thrive instead of pulling it out at the root. The forum could, and would, have outlasted BBUK for longer than it did, but the rot of bigotry has turned a whole bunch of good members off the place and now this forum is destined to bleed members until only the bigoted clique are left to turn it into an echo chamber of bigotry, conspiracy theories and Megan Markle hate threads.

A pitiful end for a forum with such a long and colourful history.

My own point of view is similar to TS and Dezzy. There were pleasant almost serous discussions on here long after BB ended but there is an 'element' on the forum that has not been checked by admin.

Its ironic to see some members call face book, twitter etc a cess pit. Those members need to look a little closer to home.

If there was any actual racism, the admin/mods would be on it. There is not. It's just a dirty tactic to use.

They're understaffed and the staff that's still here mentally checked out 2+ years ago. Including admin. They'll intervene when they eventually see something or when something clearly crosses a major line and someone reports it. But in terms of having any active input or desire to moderate the forum? It doesn't really happen. Membership is too low for effective moderation anyway. They can't impose stricter rules without finishing off the forum, they know it, and so here we are.

Although I did see a little graph recently that shows that arista makes far more threads than any other member (hundreds if not thousands) so it might just be that. Thread = engagement, engagement = views, view = clicks, clicks = revenue :shrug:. Though I can't imagine running this place is profitable at all these days so who knows.

This is true, tribalism has been on the rise for many years and has affected everywhere, but the problem specifically on here is that they tried to put the blinkers on to it like other social media did but TiBB was too small a forum to survive that. And it hasn’t.

I’d argue that it predates 2016 though, Trump at the end of the day is a symptom of that division and not the cause, that tribal division (and the dem’s over-confidence that their tribe had the numbers) is the reason he got into the whitehouse in the first place.

Anyway yea in short I agree it’s a problem across the entire western world certainly not just this forum, but this forum has handled it badly and probably wasn’t cut out to weather it in the first place.

Literally every good member who didn't want to be part of what the forum has now become is now on Discord which is essentially full of TIBB members who have been driven away. (Ammi is also on there)

Literally every good member who didn't want to be part of what the forum has now become is now on Discord which is essentially full of TIBB members who have been driven away. (Ammi is also on there)

I find it generally unlikely that anything run by groups of people who come from the same ideological standpoints can ever be truly “moderate”, and my idea of “good moderation” is simply that people don’t get vicious, don’t mock, and argue topics in good faith. That last part is what TiBB is lacking sadly. But again though you can see that trend all across politics, the media, even academics these days. Point scoring and groupthink and being “on the right side” takes centre stage, no one is bothered about arguments being well-reasoned or logical.

From what I’ve seen of the offsite groups they’re heavily skewed towards one type of ideology.

I might be wrong, I’ve not actually been on them.

As for why Tibb is a morgue well I agree with all Dezzys posts.

I just hope and pray that things may turn around here and will stick around on and off in that hope.

I was responding to a comment asking if people really had done that, and said yes… I did not start the conversation, you have seen 1+1 and got 3 somehow. I have only “ranted” when you were trolling her memorial/funeral thread - every member has a right to be told RIP by it’s members - regardless on your opinions on them; you didn’t need to enter the thread if you didn’t agree with her views/like her. Asking for the thread to be closed was rude to members who wanted to say goodbye/wish her family well (considering her family have visited/posted on TIBB before).
