View Full Version : Biggest public transport peeves

At it says in the title. (Public transport meaning buses, trains, taxis, et cetera.)
I’ll get the ball rolling.
1. People who just have to sit next to you when there are enough vacant seats available.
2. The miserable attitude of most bus drivers in general and the fact that they don’t always stop for certain people.
3. Kids/sloppy people who leave food and spill **** on the floor.
4. The fact that some people are too impatient to let people (especially the elderly) get off before boarding.
5. People who sniff all the time without bothering to blow their bloody noses (that one applies to so many other situations). I feel like sniffing’s one of those sounds you’re either oblivious or hyper-attuned to and I swing more to the latter category. It’s not a big issue but it does get on my nerves when people think it’s acceptable to hear them snorting what sounds like coke up their noses every five seconds rather than doing the natural thing. (Just blow your damn nose once and for all and get it over with already.)
6. The overly-and-inappropriately talkative ones who try and have long conversations with the driver, all the while holding up the queue (again, that’s just a general irritant that happens everywhere).
7. Random strangers trying to talk to you (it’s rare I’m ever in the mood to talk to strangers and when I’ve got my ’pods in that’s a cue that I’m not looking to have a random conversation with a complete stranger but some people have zero chill).
8. People who bring dogs on buses (barring the obvious exception of guide dogs).
9. People who stink (spray-on costs as little as 50 p.).
10. School kids (nothing more that needs to be said for this one).

The annoying thing with this use to be you'd try and get past them and they'd be in the way , (obviously i'm not talking guide dogs). And then the owner would say " it won't hurt you" . they act like you're scared when really you're just trying to get through  .
Crowded buses in general has always been a pet peeve of mine , the only saving grace with covid is i've seen less of that thankfully . And usually most people sit by themselves/ or with their group etc .
I just hate how buses indicate and immediately pull out in front of me ..
I get that it’s not their vehicle and they don’t pay for any damage ... but it’s so flaming dangerous !!

I have not been on public transport for a few years but I am going on a train on Sunday as it goes so i will report back
Couple I had this week
- Jammed full bus, few people having to stand etc. One woman sat on the aisle seat with her bag on the window seat - let someone sit down ffs :fist:
- again jammed full bus, most people just keeping themselves to themselves but one girl yapping away on her phone all journey about her love life and other topics no one needed to know about. Don't know how she didn't feel self-conscious given the rest of the bus was totally silent
I also wish more people would just get off a stop before their closest one when it's only a few yards rather than slowing down the journey making the bus stop all the time just so they don't have to walk a hundred metres

I don't really use Public transport much, on planes though when the doors of the plane open the correct system is leave the people in the rows in front of you go and then you go and then the rows behind you go, there's always some rude asshole who will try to barge out first in front of everyone though
I remember when i was a teenager using the bus, we always used to find the Spanish students really annoying on the buses they were so screamy and loud (sorry Spanish people)

Oh that's so selfish, someone should have told her to move her bag
People who thank the driver.

I haven’t been on public transport for 5+ years but when I did used to get the bus to work, other random passengers trying to make smalltalk was the only thing I really hated. I always put in earphones and listened to music so that they wouldn’t. Sometimes if I wasn’t in the mood for music, I’d just put the earphones in anyway so that I could pretend not to be able to hear people :joker:.
