Episode 1 of S3 was hilarious. So glad this is back but gutted it's the final series. It's been stellar since day 1. One of the best in recent years.
LIAM NEESON!!

Part I of the final ever episode is about to start. Part II is Wednesday (an hour long special set a year later when the girls turn 18).
(I'm watching on +1). I'm gutted it's over - can see myself getting all emotional at the end.
I'm binge watching the series now.
I wasn't expecting an ending like that to the last episode.
Erin and James have to get together in tonights final episode. They were holding hands when they were sat down in that last scene in the hospital. It will represent the peace process with Erin being Irish and James being English

So we were left to guess and make up our own minds with Erin and James getting together, it was probably the right thing to do because it would have overshadowed the message of what the theme of the show was all about. It was a very moving ending in its own right besides the Chelsea Clinton bit, that wasn't needed.
Great show. One of the best sitcoms of the last decade.

That honestly I think was the perfect ending.
Hilarious and heartbreaking, nostalgic and hopeful all in equal measure but more importantly extremely poignant. I loved it. That monologue from Erin plus the ending shot of Granda and the little girl leaving the polling station was spot on.
I’m going to miss this show terribly. I agree Alf - nothing much has come close to this in recent memory (British at least).
Writer doesn't rule out a return of some kind.

I think you could make one or even two spin of shows with this with the amount of characters it had, and that's a measure of how strong the characters were, brilliant writing?
I think the fifth episode of this last series proves that when they did the episode entirely about the parents.

Why would they consider spin-offs if they’ve killed the original series

They didn't kill off the characters. They just ended Derry Girls and even that could be brought back if the writer wanted to.
Derry Girls is set in the 1990s, they could make a show of the characters set 10 or so years later.

A film somewhere down the line could be amazing in the same vein as The Inbetweeners Movie.
Or a Sister Michael spin-off.
Or an Aunt Sarah spin-off.

The only way I would have improved on that is showing what they are all doing in the present day. I thought that was about to happen to but was disappointed. Would have been good to show them now. I loved the whole thing so much and going to miss it it ended way too soon

The very very end though was just fantastic. Was like something out of a movie - did not expect it. So good.
