People were waiting for Starmer to pick a side, and ... Urgh.

All he had to say was "yes, only actual women can have a cervix, but we in the Labour party won't stand hate crimes against transwomen", or something along those lines.

He doesn't need to totally fence-ride, and decrying hate crimes against transwomen isn't the same as asking women to give up their rights to accommodate them, as while some people want women to allow transwomen into their spaces, no-one reasonable wants to see transwomen be the victims of hate crimes... Unless acknowledging biological truths is a hate crimes now

Sir Keir Starmer says it is "not right" to say only women have a cervix amid a row involving one of his MPs.

Rosie Duffield came under fire after supporting online criticism of a tweet, which referred to "individuals with a cervix" to be inclusive of trans men.

The incident was called transphobic by trans rights supporters - but Labour MP Ms Duffield rejects the claim.

Asked about the row, Sir Keir said claiming only women have cervixes was "something that shouldn't be said".

But Health Secretary Sajid Javid attacked the Labour leader, saying his remarks were a "total denial of scientific fact".

he has alienated the majority of the uk population at a stroke.

Maybe not alienated but certainly offended.
He's likely grumpy his reforms had to be watered down re the leadership changes.
Barely passed 53.6% in favour.
Then he's been beaten on the vote to re- nationalise energy.
Which he didn't want.
The members carrying that at conference.
I'm very pleased to hear.

He's not having the best of times.
Labour leaders do hate conferences in some part, they rarely get their way at them.

Well that’s because they are, maybe not biologically, but they’re still women, silly

Transwomen are transwomen, women are women. Pretending that they're the same is all fine and dandy when it comes to etiquette, i.e. not making people feel bad for no reason ... But acting like transwomen really are women opens a can of worms when it comes to protecting woman-only spaces and sports.
