Inspired by my discovery last night.
After making steak I was doing the dishes as you do. The pan was all charcoally and weird, as it usually is. So. I reached for the pack of brillopads my mother got me when I got this place. I was not concentrating and was kind of doing this on autopilot and managed to clean the pan without taking any of the nonestick stuff off it. And with no effort either. And was baffled.
Turns out, I have been scrubbing like hell, as if using sandpaper thinking this would make it work better, when all it does is make it harder to clean and breaks your pans. I have been getting through so so many frying pans because of this issue and just kind of convinced myself that brillopads were crap but dishcloths are no good and also get killed by pans.
So yeah. Light touch with brillopads is what you are meant to do it seems. I cannot understand how I thought it was normal to have a thing that 'helps' you do the dishes but also destroys the dishes, and never questioned this and why anyone would buy such an item if it destroys everything it touches?!
TLDR; I learnt how to correctly use a brillopad. And feel a pleb.

What on earth..apparently the hole on the top of chopping boards is to shove the stuff through aswell, so it doesnt go everywhere (though I dont use them so thats useless to me, might help others though)
Life would be so easy if we already knew all of this. I wonder how proper adults feel sometimes

The rough side of a sponge would do the same if used in the same way. The thought of using a Brillo pad to clean a frying pan gave me an anxiety attack.

Several critics have argued that whilst PolitiFact’s style of “fact-checking” purports to adjudicate whether a particular statement is factually true or false it instead launders biased opinion analysis by making non-factual interpretive and judgment calls

Etymology
The English word "news" developed in the 14th century as a special use of the plural form of "new". In Middle English, the equivalent word was newes, like the French nouvelles and the German Neues. Similar developments are found in the Slavic languages – namely the Czech and Slovak noviny (from nový, "new"), the cognate Polish nowiny, the Bulgarian novini, and Russian novosti – and in the Celtic languages: the Welsh newyddion (from newydd) and the Cornish nowodhow (from nowydh).[1][2]
The beliefs that "news" is derived from an acronym of the phrase “Notable Events, Weather, and Sports”, or that it is formed from the first letters of the compass (North, East, West, South) are incorrect.[3]
Jessica Garretson Finch is credited with coining the phrase "current events" while teaching at Barnard College in the 1890s.[4]
