I don’t like the sort of shows he’s on, but Simon always brought something unique and timeless to them. Irreplaceable tbh. Gary Barlow is ****e and boring in comparison

why not Ronan Keating as his replacement?
who is also very decent at these sort of shows (has experience from judge role in x factor australia and presenting experience from Eurovision song contest one of the times in the 90's when it was in ireland, not to forget his amazing music career - boyzone, solo and for others)

That's as maybe, but when it comes to sitting down and talking (i.e. the format of most of those shows) Simon is miles more entertaining.
Boring choice of replacement aside, it's hard to blame him - he's nearly old enough to retire anyway, and he's probably been rich enough to do so for god knows how long! Why would he spend his time nurturing "talent" for a dying TV show format when he can spend time with his family?
