When people say someone is "poorly" as in sick, I don't know why it annoys me so much

I say this. Sick makes me think...sick. As in puke. So other kinds of poorly are poorly instead of sick.

Was in a hospital a few weeks back in the lift and their 'ground floor' was 1 floor above the actual ground floor. So ground on the lift panel was actually the 1st floor. Had me a little confused.

Umm, don't want to offend anyone, but, people who end sentences with an upward inflection, like they are asking a question.
Only British people though, as it is the normal way Australians talk.
That guy Andy on the Let's Talk FPL videos does it all the time. Also someone on a podcast I occasionally listen to.

Grown adults who call their stomach their “tummy”…
"I've got a headache" :fist:
I suppose the joggers have become a minor annoyance now.

I think this is what people have been doing to me to get me to go along with their wishes :suspect:
Something clicked just now reading that.
Now I kind of feel I have to start doing this also to get my own way?!

I do that  I try not to as I have been told before that its annoying. Seems one of my autopilot things though that takes time to change
ending on an upward inflection means you are either asking a question or not finished talking yet. The same rules actually apply naturally in music. A music passage never ends on a high note, it always resolves to the low root

Unless you are Adele or Mariah Carey.
