Why can't our Sky news be as honest as the Australian Sky news?

The video doesn't demonstrate that these adverts don't sell products. It's just two people talking about it.

have you seen John Lewis's sales figures?

but they are not claiming about actual sales:

“The advertising's no longer about selling products; it’s no longer about selling clothes, or razors or chocolate bars – it's about selling ideas, it’s about changing the way people think,” Ms d’Abrera told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

not only did they not prove anything, if that's the best examples they can come up with, they are hardly offensive to anyone. Stupid maybe, but not offensive.

I do agree though that it is a form of conditioning

Didn't you hear her say "It's not working"? We're way past the point of people needing to provide actual irrefutable proof to make someone who wants to hear what they're saying believe them.

So grateful for people like this who can tell me what I need to be thinking instead... and I can even send him money for doing so! Real chalk and cheese stuff from the ads he is criticising.

Not what the thread title says, though.

By the way, I can see Kmart Tiktok clip in the video (1:09) working as retail advertising, as a lot of women like shows like Drag Race.

Another thing you've got to remember is that it is a proven-fact that TV advertising works best with younger people - they are more likely to change their buying habits based on it. That's why US network TV is aimed at the 18-49 demographic (I think it is measured as 16-35 here?).

The title is correct

your assumption of what it referred to prior to watching the content was incorrect

We live in a time where no one wants to see ads and readily skip them at any given opportunity. It's hardly shocking third eye opening stuff that advertisers have realised this and are now having to come up with new ways to draw and keep people's attention.

Real chalk and cheese stuff from the ads he is criticising. You sound a bit jealous of him because people freely donate to him for putting out his content. Guess what? You can also watch his content for free like the video I've just shared with you. Netflix wouldn't let you do that.

It's no different than donating to Simon Cowell when he asks you to donate to him by voting for an act on his shows.

I can't lie I am massively jealous people don't send me money for giving their opinions some validation. But hey that's why there's such a rise in "content" creators like that, they aren't as stupid as their viewers are. You're right it's no different than giving your money to Simon Cowell, or any business person or any advertisers because the end goal is always gonna be profit, whether they make that through your entertainment or your outrage.
