Right? I’ve lost count of the amount of films and adverts I’ve seen where he kissed his wife and that’s never been a problem

Ah come on it's not just about the same sex thing at all is it, this ad would be just ****ing unusual if it was a woman and I don't think we can pretend otherwise :joker:. It's not Santa giving his spouse a little kiss, it's Santa meeting and falling for someone and some quite blatant sexual tension and sexually charged kissing. I don't think it's offensive but I don't have any particular problem with Santa being sexualised. However, lets not pretend that this advert is NOT sexualised. This is 100% Hot Gay Santa :laugh:

Don't get me wrong - I fully accept that there are sadly a lot of people who WILL take issue with it because it's two men, but suggesting that people would think nothing of it if it was a female running around in her underwear and blatantly about to get railed by Santa as the camera pans out ... is a stretch.

I honestly thought it was a really nice ad until the last tiny bit. Well actually I didn't even think that was "not nice", I'm not puritan, like I said I'm not really bothered about a sexualised Santa ad... like why not.

However the claim that it's not sexualised is FALSE because that last scene with the beard stroking and slow zoom out is unquestionably foreplay and Santa's chestnuts are roasting.

Sooo... A) Yes it does sexualise Santa but B) :shrug: why does anyone really care.

let's be real. There are 100's of porn movies/pictures with santa in a hetro porn situation, to suggest otherwise is whitewashing away an entire porn genre :laugh:

Humour is triggering to you.

Your obsessions are racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia and climate change. All depressing stuff.

Not that I'm saying that this doesn't happen, again I don't think that's really the case here, the advert does objectively sexualize Santa ... there's a clear implication in the final scene that they're beginning a physically intimate relationship, and there's a clear effort throughout to present Santa "differently from usual" (as a more humanised version who someone might be physically interested in and who might share that interest - he would usually be presented as a largely asexual entity) - but that's sort of the point isn't it? I wouldn't think any differently if the love interest was female. I personally don't think it's inappropriate either because of the following;

1) the implications are subtle enough that young children aren't going to think "Oh yeah, Santa's going to have sex!" or at least you would hope not :umm2:.

2) Adults who *can* read the "tension" they're clearly going for shouldn't have any problem with an intimate relationship between two men, and if they do, that's their own problem.

I guess I see it in the same vein as the "adult in-jokes" that are in a lot of kids films... they're not inappropriate, because they're designed to only be understandable to adults.
