Dua Lipa has been forced to cancel an upcoming gig on “doctor’s orders”.
The award-winning singer, 26, confessed she was “heartbroken” to share the sad news with her fans on Friday.
Dua had been due to perform in New York next week alongside stars such as Lil Nas X and Ed Sheeran at the iHeartRadio KIIS FM Jingle Ball.
But on Friday night, the talented singer announced on social media that she had pulled out of the upcoming gig due to being diagnosed with laryngitis.
The singer-songwriter took to her Instagram Stories to explain that she needed a few days “in order to fully heal”.
“I’m heartbroken to have to share that I won’t be able to perform at the iHeartRadio KISS FM Jingle Ball due to laryngitis,” Dua began her emotional statement on Friday night.
“As per my doctor’s orders today, I will need to be on vocal rest for the next few days in order to fully heal.”
She continued: “I am so sorry to all my fans and I’m truly thankful for your understanding. Jingle Ball has a stellar lineup with amazing performances for you all that I’m sure you will enjoy.”
After praising her peers still set to appear at the American concert, the star promised fans she would be performing again soon.
“Sending my love and hoping to be back on stage very soon!” she concluded her announcement on social media.
The star – who recently collaborated with Sir Elton John – then went on to share a humorous snap from another Instagram users.
Dua added a number of crying-with-laughter emojis to the image of a badge which reads: “I am on voice rest, therefore I cannot speak.”
Her next story the revealed that despite her illness, she was still in a festive mood – sharing a snap of her Christmas advent calendar.
In what now appears to be a deleted post, Dua also bemoaned the injustice at travelling to America to end up sick.
