So rumours are we are gearing up for a 2 week lovkdown after Xmas but who will seriously listen? They can't expect people to follow the rules while they themselves are having big Xmas parties during lockdown

I think most people will take personal responsibility deciding what is safe for themselves.

It won't make any difference to myself or the 2 others who live with me.
As we're sticking only with each other.
Taking no risks whatsoever.

So a very quiet Christmas and New Year, plus into the New Year too, keeping safe.

I agree however, after the chaos from the government messaging and to a degree the science too.
I'd doubt near to full compliance re another lockdown again even for a couple of weeks duration.

Well I guess you have your excuse to put peoples lives at risk now by having a party yourself..

I'm sorry but I followed the rules for nearly 2 years now, got vaccinated as soon as possible had to spend time on my own just to keep everyone safe and all for what? So the rich can just do what they like while they tear apart the Poorer people? The government have proven they don't care about the people so its time we stopped caring about the government

but this was never about the government, this is about keeping everyone safe as possible. Why does everyone need the government to tell them what is best for them, they should just do it.

The government have no idea what they are doing and dont even follow their own rules, they have no credibility to anything that they say

That's why it's a lockdown in name only really.

People know the government is laughing at us,so they'll ignore it as they'll think why should they follow rules if MPs can't .

But I think people with common sense will try and keep their distance, continue wearing masks and taking precautions etc.

Tbf to The Wee Donkey, by what he is saying it's not like he has been some rebel against the Government these past 2 years.

What everyone has had to put up with these past 2 years has been nothing short of disgraceful, I can't blame people for finally losing it with the Government.

i chose to meet up with my extended family early because i could see how things were heading. So we still got to see everyone while it was still sensible to do so. I cant believe everyone is so tied to a specific date that cant be missed, its crazy

Our own Prof Leitch was on the football show as always today talking total sense

Her said we are giving the people of Scotland as many facts about the virus we can and letting the people use their own judgment to do what they see fit.

When asked about going to the theatre this week with elderly parents (one woman called) he said "I cant say yes or no what i can sway is here is the situation but its your call - take all the necessary precautions and dow what is right for you"

same about the football

We are not going to order you we will advise you and let you make the call

common sense

As much as everyone detests the government people need to use common sense.

Why is it crazy? I live 400 miles from my brother and his family, I have work commitments, as does he (he works for BA and hasn't flown since they decommissioned 747s and is currently in sims for his new aircraft), we both have kids in school etc etc....its nice to be able to see family when you can but given the speed that this thing has ramped up, its not crazy to expect people to be in a tailspin as meticulous planned events to fit in are thrown up in the air by the pandemic

Personally I've done similar to what you've done.

It's just personally I can understand why some people have had enough.

Whatever happens, the majority of people will just get on with it and rake responsibility for themselves.

Not completely sure a lockdown would be the answer anyway as cases will just go up again after reopening. We have been told the vaccines, the mask wearing the social distancing etc are the answer so I think keep things open and follow those rules. Covid is still going to be around for a while and lockdown isn't changing that fact. The issue is a lot of people don't want to do the mask wearing or social distancing and a lot have refused the vaccine. It seems a shame for the rest of us that have followed the rules to have to lockdown and be punished for that. Government itself certainly hasn't helped matters as the majority seem to be completely useless and self entitled but trying to look past it we have responsibility to keep ourselves and those we know safe
