I had 3 letters in their correct places after my first guess and there was only 3 words it could be. I chose the wrong one twice so got it on my forth attempt when I could have easily had it on my second attempt, for the first time.

Well no, although what does shorten your odds of eventually getting it in 1 is using the same word every day, same as with for example a lotto bet. e.g. your odds of winning £700 with an Irish Lotto bet are (roughly) 700/1... your odds if you play the same numbers every day for 5 years are (almost) a guaranteed win at some point. Of course you'll have spent more on the bets in that time than you actually win, but that's sort of how bookmaking works innit :joker:.

Something to note: the word stayed the SAME as it was just after midnight on the old game... but if you played it say just after midnight on that, and then switch over to the NY times one after midnight tonight, I suspect you might LOSE your streak.

Basically everyone should go on now and make sure it's registered today's word even if you've already done it otherwise you risk losing your streak :worry:. I suspect it's related to time zones ... they probably swapped everything over at midnight "New York time" which is early morning for us... so if you played at any time between about midnight last night and 6am you're "at risk".

The letters get coloured in 4 parts to reflect which parts have each letter. The part that confused me at first is that DARK letters are the ones you haven't used yet, light grey is ones you've used that aren't in any of the 4.

My correct guesses were on attempts 4, 6, 8 and 9...

...I guess you have to have at least one correct by your 6th guess or you don't have enough guesses left to get all of them.

There's a 'Battle Royale' version of Wordle called Squabble, where you play against a group of other players.

However I don't think the gameplay works right - some people just spam the same six words over and over and keep winning. You don't seem have to solve the Wordle in six tries.
