The Queen has tested positive for Covid, Buckingham Palace has said.

The palace said the monarch is experiencing mild "cold-like symptoms" but expects to continue "light duties" at Windsor over the coming week.

"She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines," the palace said in a statement.

The Queen had been in contact with her eldest son and heir, the Prince of Wales, who tested positive last week.

I know with that diagnosis that this is a real long shot, but maybe it's a cold?

IN the 4 weeks prior to Feb 4th in Scotland

478 people died with covid on their death certificate

Of that number 417 were fully vaccinated

87%

The Scottish Government have now announced they wont be publishing covid deaths by vaccine status anymore

"in case the data is misrepresented by ant-vaxx campaigners"

My dad sailed through the last strain at 92….this strain is not as bad so I’m sure the Queen will be fine…unless she has an underlying problem.

You can't really compare the queen to the average 95yr old, obviously I hope she isn't affected but their appears to be the suggestion that everyone could or should just 'carry on' with covid. That is bad advice.

Especially bad advice for 90+ year olds! Most younger people have been able to go about their day with Covid (e.g. working from home, doing a bit of housework) but at that age people should be resting up if they have ANY sort of bug. Crazy advice.

I'm in my late 40s and delta floored me for 2 whole weeks. This omicron might be a milder covid variant that is less likely to cause symptoms but should it mutate again all this business as usual stuff might be impossible, at any age.

That's why it's important to take precautions still, especially anyone who's vulnerable or with other underlying health issues.

I just keep hoping that there's no more serious mutations of the virus. The vaccination surely has made some difference, I just wish things were handled better with this pandemic.

We all know COVID will be around for the foreseeable, all we can do is be sensible and wear a mask . But we have to still try and get on with our daily lives:shrug: .

Establishments are deep cleaning and providing hand sanitizers . They advice people to not mingle with others if they have COVID symptoms. And some people are still taking flow tests to be on the safe side .

It can't mutate to something worse

That isn't scientifically possible

we really dont have a clue how the variants will go in the future. If we take flu as an example, each year there are new strains, some years there can be particularly nasty variants, other times not so much. I don't seen any reason why covid will be any different. We have been relatively lucky this time round, but the next one could be a stinker

The Queen has cancelled her virtual engagements for Tuesday as she is still experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms from Covid, royal officials have said.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Sunday that the Queen, 95, had tested positive and was experiencing mild symptoms.

Covids just a flu variant, the present, at the time flu vaccines, failed the vulnerable in its infant years...all that's happened has been a tweaking off the failed flu vaccine.

It isn't a flu variant Parmy - they're completely different viruses with vastly different infection rates and symptoms. It's a coronavirus. That's never been in question.
