View Full Version : World Snooker championships 2022
I was just relaxing watching a bit of snooker when only a pigeon flys into the Crucible theatre and lands on the table.

Hes looking for his coo
This frame has been an epic. Longest frame in Crucible history.
85 minute frame. I've watched shorter films.
It almost went to a re-spotted black had Selby have potted the black.
The defending champion looks like he's going out.

An 85 minute frame? Peter Ebdon would be proud.

I cant believe I sat and watched every second of it...but it was grippingly entertaining.
Ps, when did selby get so old!!
Neil Robertson has done a 147 this evening.
He made a break of 147 but ended the frame with a score of 151.

Somebody needs to tell eurosport mguire is scottish..they have him as ENG, in the draw tables
Somebody needs to tell eurosport mguire is scottish..they have him as ENG, in the draw tablesMaguire has the snooker ability to win this, he's played well so far. Not sure whether he is mentally strong enough to beat Ronnie though. If he gets past Ronnie then I'll tip him to win it.
Williams has played well so far but I fancy Judd Trump to come through that half of the draw.
I'll go for Trump vs either Ronnie or Maguire for the final. And that's brave of me to write Higgins off.

Higgins will beat this bloke...
Great semi-final line-up. 4 of the greatest players to ever pick up a snooker cue. All three members of the class of 92 are there along with today's superstar.
Mark Williams vs Judd Trump in one semi and the two great old rivals Ronnie o'sullivan and John Higgins lock horns once again in the other.
Judd Trump dominated the first session against Williams 7-1 up.

I'd like Higgins to take the title.

Higgins leading against O'Sullivan 3 frames to 1.
Parmy
28-04-2022, 08:26 PM
Early days, o sullivan can pull that back within 10 minutes at any moment.
First time in the match Ronnie has taken a 2 frame advantage. 8-6 to Ronnie with 2 frames left to play today. Higgins needs to take at least 1 of those because Ronnie is hard to catch when he's in front.
Kate!

Come on Higgins!
Ronnie was 6-5 down but won the last 5 frames of the day to lead 10-6 overnight.
Trump vs Williams resumes shortly. Currently 11-5 to Trump. He could possibly win it tonight if he takes 6 of tonights 8 frames. Williams really needs to win tonights session.
Williams won 6-2 in tonights session so now Trump only leads 13-11 now. They play to a finish tomorrow afternoon.
Ronnie and Higgins resume their match in the morning.
After losing the first session 7-1 Williams is now level at 14-14. He's playing well and now has the momentum, he's got to be favourite from here. Trump needs to wake up and try to stop the Williams surge.
Ronnie is 15-9 up in the othe semi-final. He needs just 2 frames tonight for the win.

Aww I was wanting a Trump Higgins Final.
16-16 last frame decider coming up.
Trump wins 17-16 in a classic match.
Trump was 12-5 down overnight but he's won this afternoons session 6-2 and now only trails 14-11.
Game on tonight as they play to a finish.
Ronnie is four frames away from equalling Stephen Hendry with seven World titles.

Go on Judd, you can do it.

So Ronnie has to win 4 out of the remaining 10 frames ?
Whereas Judd has to get 7 ?

Really needed Ronnie to pick up one more from this mornings session to be comfortable.
Any ideas what time they actually start playing ?
7:15
7:30 ?

Trump needs this more than Ronnie does. Ronnie is already the greatest player ever (Crucible, television era) even Stephen Hendry would admit that himself, I think.
Judd needs to become a multiple time World champion to truly put his name alongside the greats.

Using the figures above I’m estimating that Ronnie has a 60% chance of winning whereas Judd has a 30% chance ?!?

My top 10 of all time would be..
1 Ronnie o'sullivan
2 Stephen Hendry
3 Steve Davis
4 John Higgins (he'd probably be number 1 if he didn't play in Ronnie's era)
5 Mark Selby
6 Mark Williams
7 Alex Higgins
8 Neil Robertson
9 Jimmy White (unlucky to be in the eras of Davis and then Hendry)
10 Judd Trump (Can move up into the top 7 if he wins tonight)

I just don't like trump. It's irrational and based on the "naughty snooker" days when he was a kid - it was just too cringey. That's how sporting allegiances and rivalries work though - they're all pretty stupid when you actually think about it.

Atmosphere was electric for those walk-ons. Here to see the immortal, Ronnie o'sullivan, God with a cue.

I don't get a good vibe from him, there's a touch of arrogance there and I just can't warm to him.

He's cocky, arrogant and a bit smarmy in my opinion.
He's an amazing player and I actually thought he was pretty cool when he had the long hug / conversation with Judd tonight.

Mmm personally I’ve never thought him having those traits .
I know he’s had many problems with depression , drug and alcohol addictions but he’s been clean for a while now

It's just a personal opinion. I have no issues with his vices...everyone has them. He is just a person I personally cannot warm to. Having said that...he is probably the most exciting snooker player I have watched so I have to :douf: to him for that.
Still not a fan though

there are very few snooker players i've actually liked going through the decades. I dislike them for a whole range of different reasons though, so Im not discriminatory

Maybe they have to have a certain way about them to be successful at snooker .
The thought of practicing snooker for 7 hours a day .. every day for years sounds horrendous
