I guess only actors knows why they tread the boards on stage night after night for months or years in the same play reciting the same words.
It would send me crazy locked in a weird Groundhog Day experience. I couldn't do it.
I suspect if you're skint and need to pay the mortgage, then you have no alternative, if all you have in your skill set is acting.
So I was surprised to see Bond star Daniel Craig playing Macbeth on Broadway until July almost every night. He has a fortune of around £160 million.
Wouldn't be me. I'd still make movies because it's varied work. But saying the same words night after night, a big no.
It would be cool if it was your first role, but yeah, if your a 2 bit actor treading the boards night after night the smile must become shallower and shallower as each performance passes.

isn't every job the same thing more or less every day?
It's a bit like a morning s*** LT and gusto.

Re reading that....
Perhaps a story is about to break about him...
Daniel craig, the sad aging ginger actor.
Whimpering like a discarded puppy as he scans all the latest prince harry bit parts he could have had if he wasnt such an elderly ginger gingy.

I get the impression Daniel Craig wants a bit of a break from the big screen , that's probably why he's doing theatre for now .
Even with bond didn't they tease for ages that he was quitting the role, obviously now we know he's left Bond but for a few good years before .. we heard he wasn't enjoying it as much or something ?.
But i think it was more due to how demanding the movies were, and the stunts etc .
having been part of the bond franchise he is in the fortunate position to never have to work again if he doesnt want to. So what he does now, he does for fun. If he finds it fun getting on a stage 6 nights a week, good luck to him

Not really. I mean you have to be very precise as an actor. A solid 4-hour stint every night requires concentration. But it would bore me to tears.:hee:

Yeah but I think I'd do a couple of TV adverts or something. Something less stressful. :hee:

Not my idea of fun. With a £160Million, I could think of better and more fun things to do.:joker::hehe:

I don't think Daniel Craig wants to be seen as past it like Kevin Bacon , and I've just looked at his IMDB and he's still got atleast 2 or 3 movies in general in the works.
Yeah theatre can be stressful but maybe he enjoys it still.
