View Full Version : Does age matter in relationships?

What are your feelings on this subject?
I've had a couple of experiences with younger guys.
One when I was 27 and he was 18 and one when I was 40 and he was 28. I'm happy now with someone a little older than myself.

I’ve been on both sides
When I was 19 I was seeing a 31 year old and when I was 31 I was seeing a 19 year old
If two people are attracted to each other and want an adult relationship there is nothing wrong
One of my successful friends his daughter married and older man and gave kids together

Some so called men are dicks and never grow up.

52 summers old Parmy.
The age gap is only relevant for maybe under 50’s ... any older and there is no issue imho

Habitually I'd say "it doesn't really matter, it's more about the person", but I've never really been interested in anyone more than a couple of years either side of my own age.

Oh, you're the same age as me, no wonder theres this sexual tension between us.

Then you are an exception that would prove the rule
Noone is saying that age gaps dont work just that its easier if the person has the same themes growing up - music, sport, news, films etc

That’s the standard protective father routine
I’d rather my daughter be with an older man who worshipped her than some snotty nose kid treating her like sh1t
It’s hard but they are not kids forever

See you are pressuring I think like you other fathers.
You could jump up and down and scream the house down but at 18 they are an adult.

What's up with the Black Country? Besides Wolverhampton Wanderers anyway.:hehe:
But in all seriousness in that scenario it would honestly depend on how long that they've known each other for.
Like for example if he was her Teacher back in Primary School then I'd see that as a massive red flag.

I reckon I could outrun you sherriff.

I’ve done heavy physical work for most of my adult life so I would say no plus I don’t drink or smoke
My brother did a 14 mile have marathon without any training and was so fast waited for his wife a the finishing line and she had been running half marathons for years

Depends really on how big the age gap is and their intentions. Can't really say anymore than that .
Also how they met plays a part in it aswell .

You're too butch to run far. you know it, and I know it.
You're brother however, well that's a different story.

How so? What would constitute a good way and a bad way to meet?

My brother is smaller than me but he is just as strong his son is tall and skinny but can punch like a mule.
If it was a run for the pub you would win

E.g if the older person was their boss , teacher , or their parent's friend , or their best friend's mother or father etc . That would be awkward/ weird.
As for a good way , I don't know just something relaxed & comfortable . Online dating seems to be how alot of people meet ,or if they've known eachother a while etc.

I think there's a point where it works and then not... I was 17 when I met the kids dad he was 25. Then when I was 23 and he was 31 it felt odd.

That's why people's intentions are really important.
Sometimes the gap can be far too big ,but other times it could be fine. Depends on the age difference. also they might not have much in common. Everyone is different.
Another weird example I just thought of aswell is if the person use to be their babysitter , that would be a red flag I would say.
