['I didn't transition for an advantage,
I transitioned to be my authentic self':
Trans swimmer Lia Thomas shrugs
off doctors who confirm she DOES have
unfair physical advantage - as she
reveals hopes to compete in Olympics
Thomas, 22, appeared on
Good Morning America on Tuesday morning
It is her first TV interview since she
stormed the female college swimming
leagues in 2021
She insisted she did not transition
to win more medals and said
she is finally happy
Lia's place in the sport has been
widely debated by trans activists
and sports experts
Physiologist Ross Tucker says Thomas
still has an advantage despite taking
hormone suppressant therapy
The NCAA allowed Lia to compete
this year as a woman but it's unclear
what they will do when the next season
begins in September with other girls
She has now graduated from UPenn,
the college she swam for
Other pro tennis players including
trans player Renee Richards
and Martina Navratilova say it is unfair]

'I didn't transition for an advantage

It doesn't matter what the reason was, you have one as a biological male

Absolute travesty if Lia is allowed to compete at the Olympics. Female competitors need to stand together and boycott these competitions if they want a fair competition back again

there literally is no point in anyone else competing

I genuinely think she'd hop in the pool on her own, swim a leisurely couple of lengths and then hop up on the podium with the gold and think nothing of it.

Which currently is what might as well be happening.

Yes
it gives her more power than a lady

It is obvious why she went on Early Breakfast TV.
To let all know she is going to Win.

Of course they will win, if they're racing against women.

Ridiculous that males should be allowed to compete against women in the Olympics...

If you want to see the biological advantage, no words describe it more than this picture does

There should be a trans category in the Olympics and big sporting events

Are there enough transwomen in sports to warrant this?

Just allow them to participate in their actual sex category. Fairer all round.

I dont know but you don’t see too many trans men rushing to compete against men

Quite right too - men and women shouldn't compete against each other.

I understand the argument about having trans athletes compete against each other separately, but it wont happen because there aren't enough trans people competing. It's a business too, and the demand for seeing a few trans athletes compete wont be there.

I can only see this working 2 ways - Just accept the absolute fact a biological male has a physical advantage over a biological woman and not allow them to compete. Or the other potential alternative - Work out a handicap for the Trans athlete, maybe staring with a + time or something. I dunno how it could work, but as it stands it's just so unfair on biological women athletes.

Logically, this whole thing is a complete mess. As for combat sports, it should be a firm NO, no matter what. Other sports there's probably some wiggle room.

I'm sorry but women shouldn't have to bunch over and change around our sports or have biological males give us "head starts" at the elite level, it's just so patronising and disrespectful to these women who have worked so hard to get to that level in the first place

it's going to come to a head very quickly i think

The only sports they should ever consider mixing are the ones that are purely skill-based and have no strength/speed/stamina element involved.

Well i've said before i don't agree with any of it. My opinion will always be they shouldn't be allowed to compete (trans women against biological women), but it's headed that way so maybe these alternatives will be explored.

But again, my opinion is probably too harsh for some people, but i genuinely think trans women need to be told it's "tough ****" and that the advantage they have over biological women isn't fair and they're not allowed to compete. As "women" you'd think they'd understand that.
