[An 89-year-old woman has been stabbed
to death in south London, police have said.
The pensioner was found injured at
a home in Brigstock Road,
Thornton Heath, at around 9.20pm on Tuesday.
Paramedics tried to save her,
but she was pronounced dead
at the scene. Her family have been told.
The Metropolitan Police said that a man
aged in his 30s was arrested at
another address in Croydon a short time later
and that no one else is being sought
in connection with the death.
The suspect and the woman who died
are believed to have known each other.]
