I know nothing about these matters but there was an independent financial guy on the news who said that everyone gets all these pay increases it’s gonna bump up inflation and just make everything worse ..

Looks like us minions at the bottom are just gonna have to tough things out like we normally do !?!

Only if the companies choose to fund wage increases with higher prices instead of lower profits.

what we have now is not typical inflation. Typical inflation occurs when people have too much money in their pockets, driving demand for goods skywards. On this occasion, people dont have enough money in their pockets for basic subsistence, they need more money to survive and to afford essential utilities and services. So the mantra that pay rises feeds inflation is complete bollocks, because the inflation is entirely related to energy prices that are immune to the effects of rising pay

I couldn't give a sh** about any Royal Mail strike. It's about a year since I stopped ordering anything online. I was tired of waiting in for the deliveries.

Also, i rarely get physical mail (letters). All my bills and bank statements are online. Last letter I got was four days ago from the HMRC, and even that, there is a copy on my online account and I got an email notification.

A company I am not keen on (to put it mildly) have been trying to send me letters hoping I will respond.

I never do and I never will.:hee:

So I think (I looked out of the window) they sent a Record Delivery letter yesterday but because our doorbell is disabled (brilliant thing), the postman was unable to deliver the RDL by hand. So he went away. I'm right, a Recorded Delivery cannot be just shoved through the letterbox?

If they are not happy with their job and pay why don't they just leave and find something else to do, this country will never get straight if people are demanding more money all the time, I know a postie ,lovely lady ,I chat to her often and certainly is not on the breadline, and what an awful time to decide to strike.

I'm 100% in support of the post workers.

I was talking to the postman who usually delivers the post in my area.
It's about more than pay too.
He doesn't want to strike but has been pushed to way over the limits now.
So reluctantly will strike.
Despite that added hardship to him and his family.

I don't know what they're trying to achieve with these strikes.

I just looked at the ones they have planned for the rest of December and it's gonna cripple deliveries. I mean that goes without saying. Some Christmas cards won't be delivered till mid January that's what I heard. If at all.

They're only shooting themselves in the foot. All that backlog has to be cleared. They're making work very hard for themselves.

Of course they could always throw 80% of the letters and cards into a big furnace. I'm sure it's been done before.
