[A 14-year-old boy has been arrested
after a woman was raped in a nightclub toilet.
Officers were called to Bloom club in the
Manchester’s Gay Village area shortly
after 5am on Wednesday.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of rape
and has since been bailed pending
further investigation, Greater Manchester Police said.

Police said the victim is being supported
by specialist services and a number
of lines of inquiry are being followed up.

The woman and her friends were
offered drugs by a teenager shortly
before the attack, police believe.

Staff at the club allegedly allowed
the suspect to leave the venue after the
victim said she did not want police to
be contacted, however the woman’s friend
later called police and an arrest was made.

Bloom nightclub issued a statement
on Thursday saying it had closed
“to allow for a complete investigation”.

It added: “Due to the severity of an
incident which occurred in the club on
Wednesday, Bloom Manchester
will be closed to allow for a complete
investigation to take place.”

The venue, in Bloom Street, describes
itself on Facebook as “Manchester’s favourite
late night LGBTQ+ nightclub”.]

Yeah that's crazy to think a 14 year old can get into a nightclub in this day and age. I mean you have to look over 25 to buy booze and tobacco in all the shops now. Not like back in the early/mid 00's when i first started clubbing (didn't last long, maybe a summer). It was always the girls, they'd get in, some around 15/16. The boys of that age, like me, would always struggle. It was a 50/50 chance every weekend really.

He was a 14yr old drug dealer, who was waved into the
toilets by the security with the words "have a good one" ringing in his ears from one of the security, as he sauntered in with his victim.

Security later knocked on the cubicle door of the toilet but did nothing when they discovered there was 2 people behind the door.

Yeah that was my thought, the club are probably complicit in drug dealing in the venue and the exchange taking place in the cubicles is quite common

Re the cubicles thing, a lot of gay clubs have unisex washrooms. It's also not uncommon for them to be creepily permissible when it comes to allowing younger people in, and turning a blind eye to goings-on in the cubicles. Vile places.

Th bouncers (or one of them anyway) would always steer you in the right direction if you wanted any Coke or Pills in the few clubs i went to. The Maidstone clubs were always the roughest. I could never fully relax or let myself go in them clubs. Always dicks looking for fights and stuff.
