The one on the right yes, think that was still going when my kids got their school shoes
It was clarks shoe shops where i remember seeing them and I think i was bombarded with x rays on a couple of occasions :laugh:

That is so strange, you would expect that kind of advancement now, not some staff member pressing the tops of your shoes to find your toes

its dangerous to have too many x rays, and you can bet the machines weren't shielded correctly, so the shop assistants were probably being irradiated on a daily basis

There was also a thing in Clarks that you put your foot in, like a box, and from all 4 sides meta came out till it hit your foot and it measured your width and size. I used to like that.

Both ... my uncle ( and his brother ) ran the local shoe shop :)

They still have those ones at the right at Clarks not quite the same as that but still a big plastic measuring contraption that really scared my kids no idea why
