Temperatures will build again later this week and over the coming weekend,
likely peaking on Sunday and Monday. Some exceptionally high temperatures
are possible and cumulative effects of warm nights and hot days are expected
to bring widespread impacts to people and infrastructure. This period of hot
weather is expected to continue into the early part of next week, hence an
update extending this warning into Monday is likely.

today it'll be 30C here in Eindhoven
tomorrow 29C
then few cooler days of 25C, 22C , 23C
then sunday 27C
monday 18 and tuesday 19 worst two days for us with 31C and 32C, but still lots of uncertainties can be anything between 28 and 38 depending on which way the wind comes in so its hard to predict anything
but after those two days it is said to go back down steadily again and remaining stable around 24C for few more days and then more steadily around 25C, also bit more chances of rain
thankfully and hopefully true that evening temps are going down after those two vile days
thank god we have airconditioning, for today, will put it on bit later on from now i guess, at least putting to good usage in making my bedroom cool for tonight, will have to put sound up from my tv, because of that awful aircon noise, so loud

The Met Office has extended an extreme heat weather warning for England and Wales until Tuesday, with temperatures expected to build across the UK.
That means there could be a danger to life or potential serious illness from the scorching heat.
The amber alert will run from Saturday until Tuesday - temperatures are expected to peak on Tuesday, with highs of 36C (96.8F) forecast.
Crimson Dynamo
13-07-2022, 11:34 AM
The Met Office’s Dan Harris added: “Weather forecast models are run numerous times to help us quantify the likelihood of a particular event occurring, and estimate the uncertainty which is always present in weather forecasting to some degree. For late in next weekend and especially early next week, some runs of these models continue to allow exceptionally high temperatures to develop, which is something we’ll keep monitoring closely and adding details in the coming days as confidence increases.
“Some models had been producing maximum temperatures in excess of 40C in parts of the UK over the coming weekend and beyond. These have highlighted the potential which exists in the developing weather situation, but recent evidence suggests the chances have decreased. That said, it’s still a few days away, and there is still time for reversal of this trend. Mid, to possibly locally high, 30s remains more likely.”
I don't think the 40+ is very likely, but it's the trend that is important. This is the first time ever, that models have predicted a temperature in the 40's in the UK and that is a worry

It’s actually been comparatively cold where I’m at today (ditto for last night) but before I know it it’ll be scorching again. Like I said elsewhere I’m fine with hot or cold weather most of the time but I’m just coming out of a nausea bug that had me pretty floored last week and the heat isn’t helping that much at the moment. I don’t know what I’m going to do if it gets to the point where we’re on 43 degrees.

i think it may reach a new max temperature at some exposed sun trap, but mid 30's is pretty warm.
What made me smile was in the warning, they included that there was an increased threat to life because more people would go swimming in dodgy places, which is a bit of a stretch

of course we had a drought too, but we recently this year had like 44,7mm of rainfall, here in my nation around the weekend of the queen's platinum jubilee
and after that amount of rainfall, our weather people said most of that drought problem had been restored, so if there'll be a drought from upcoming tuesday possible chance of a 40 or 42C, i cannot see why that huge amount of rainfall can happen again either at some point
i just don't easily panic, and i'm already relieved that is just one day of in the 40, and immediately few days after, some thunderstorms and rain, upcoming thursday here fall back to 22C almost 20 degrees lower lol
but we seriously here need to postpone Nijmeegse vierdaagse which is due to start on tuesday with that heat, thats not good for all the many elderly taking part in that

not everyone can edit wikipedia though, there are mods on that, and anything without proper and valid sources gets removed
wikipedia is like modern days Encarta
and as if i'm against our climate, our nature, i do my personal share of having a lot of green in our garden, we got a lot of good drinking and bathing places for the wild birds, one with a fountain so moving fresh water, and one pond in my section, which i also refresh once every 2 or 3 weeks depending on how long it takes till it gets dirty
also Africa gets a lot greener too what we see some places, some places there too get more rain than before, apart from Sahara Desert of course but nothing lives there

All the ladies stopped to chat. Might take him out tomorrow again when the pubs shut
Great wy to meet wimmin, i’m here for it

Advice to schools
To cope with the heatwave, school staff have been advised to follow “a raft of measures” such as:
Encouraging children to wear “loose, light-coloured clothing” and “sunhats with wide brims” to school
Open windows as early as possible in the morning before children arrive, or overnight to allow stored heat to escape the building
Keeping the use of electric light to a minimum and switching off electric equipment, such as computers, when not in use

Nijmeegse Vierdaagse has become a 3 day event, the start on tuesday has been cancelled due to the prediction of too hot weather, around Nijmegen region it can get up to 39C and that is a no go to let all the elderly participants take part at that day
now going to start on Wednesday and finish as normal on Friday
https://nltimes.nl/2022/07/17/first-day-international-nijmegen-marches-cancelled-due-expected-heat
The board of the 4Daagse Foundation, said on Sunday that it has no choice but to cancel the first walking day of the 104th edition of the International Four Days Marches in Nijmegen. The weather conditions will be unique on Tuesday, according to the march leader, Henny Sackers.
Temperatures are expected to be even worse than in 2006. That year, two walkers died during the first day of the event as temperatures rose to 34 degrees Celsius. Thought it was never conclusively proven that they died as a result of the weather, the organization drew up a heat protocol soon after.
According to Sackers, it is "code red" for the region around Nijmegen and the Betuwe, which makes up the route for the first day of the Four Days Marches. Alternative heat scenarios that the Four Days Marches has developed as part of its weather protocol are simply insufficient to handle the situation, he said at a very well-attended press conference in Nijmegen.
Sackers previously said that the amount of wind on the route and the humidity level was also important in their decision making. The event’s own weather service created a weather forecast analyzing the situation on the walking route.
The decision was expected to involve the event's medical service, an exercise physiologist, a sports psychologist and the Red Cross. Other measures the organization could have implemented include starting the event earlier or finishing later, shortening the route, and letting soldiers walk without a full pack of gear.
More than 42,000 walkers have registered for the 104th edition of the International Four Days Marches. Every year, several thousand people are no-shows. That figure could be high with the fear of high temperatures on the first day.

Labour has called on Boris Johnson to "turn up for work" after the prime minister missed two COBRA meetings on the heatwave and is set to be absent from a third briefing today.
Shadow communities secretary Lisa Nandy said the prime minister has "clearly clocked off" since announcing his resignation, adding: "And so have many of his ministers in his government."
The Labour minister said all members of the government should "turn up for work" when asked what more ministers could be doing to assist people as the country is set to record ferocious temperatures over the next 48 hours.

https://nltimes.nl/2022/07/18/code-orange-heat-warning-issued-tuesday-cause-power-outages
Meteorological institute KNMI issued a Code Orange heat warning for the south and center of the Netherlands for Tuesday. Maximum temperatures could reach 38 or 39 degrees Celsius in these areas, the KNMI warned. Grid operator Liander warned that the heat might cause power outages, especially in Friesland. And Schiphol advised travelers to bring water with them.
The code orange warning applies to Limburg, Noord-Brabant, Zeeland, Zuid-Holland, Utrecht, Gelderland, and Overijssel from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Before and after that period, code yellow applies to those provinces. The rest of the country is also covered by a code yellow warning until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
"There is persistent heat. Pay extra care and attention to vulnerable people around you. The elderly and people with chronic conditions, in particular, are advised to take measures: drink enough, keep yourself and your home cool," the KNMI said.
Schiphol also warned travelers to prepare for the heat. "Bring enough water for yourself and your family, wear light clothing and apply sunscreen if you have to wait outside," the airport said. "It will not only be warm outside, the temperatures will also rise in the terminal. Pay close attention to each other.”
NS said it would turn down the air conditioning in the trains because it reduces the chance that the systems will fail. According to the rail company, travelers should not notice the adjustment, and it will remain cool enough in the compartments.
Grid operator Liander warned that the persistent heat may cause more power outages, especially in Friesland, where parts of the grid are still vulnerable to overheating. During several days of heat, a specific type of connector between two cables can malfunction. The electricity grid in Friesland still has these connectors in several places. Liander is already working on replacing these parts.

the temperature here is starting to reduce quite quickly now thank goodness. It's not going to go under 20 but even that will be a relief

although some people over here are enjoying the hot weather in the park
the temperature is on the march again .... whoopee
It already feels a lot warmer than yesterday morning but given the base starting temperature is a lot higher I guess it’s inevitable.
Apparently the lowest it got overnight was 27C ... that’s the normal for a hot summer DAYTIME reading .
NorthWest supposedly the hottest part of the country overnight.
Bizarrely it rained for about 90 seconds

it increased humidity making it feel warmer. Thats the reason why we all suffer with the heat in the uk and why we usually manage to cope abroad, our heat always seems to come with a healthy dose of humidity
My indoor temperature didnt drop below 28 last night, i'm surprised i got any sleep at all
Cant even see the sun yet.
