Was asked this yesterday by a friend, i didn't get it.

Who appeared in both, arguably, the most popular American Sitcom of all time and the most popular UK Sitcom of all time?

Im sure someone will jump in within minutes and get it, but i was sat there for nearly an hour trying to work it out, and i still didn't get it  I could name the sitcoms but that's not how the question was asked, it's suppose to make the question harder.

Ricky Gervais?

Nah. I know the shows being most popular can be contested, hence the "arguably", but either way they're both up there.

One started in the 80's, the other in 90's. Both ended in the 00's

I didn't know if he had been in Only Fools lol - was just thinking who was in the London Friends episode and I had said Hugh Laurie. Once it wasn't an actor - it could only be him .....or Fergie baby!!

Yeah he had an even smaller cameo in Only Fools. I guess he had a 'part' in Friends, and he kinda attempted to act

Yeah it annoyed me because i've seen both episodes a few times. I just couldn't think of anyone at the time.

No.

John Cleese was in both Cheers and Will & Grace, which were both hugely popular. Depending on the poll Fawlty Towers sometimes tops out Fools and Horses...

Hence the "arguably"

It does, but overall i'd say Only Fools is/was more popular. And Friends was insanely popular in it's day. Much more than Cheers (which i agree was very popular).
