away against Zurich
the last place of swiss league
well even then, i can see PSV losing, especially if you got no one to score goals, with Luuk de Jong still being injured
probably midfielder Xavi again up forward, or Ruud's bestie/prodigy Bakayoko
Midtjylland - Feyenoord, not sure there either, Feyenoord should win but going on current form as well, lols and that with many new signings
Nicky91
06-10-2022, 09:22 AM
likely starting 11 PSV
Benitez, Teze, Ramalho, Obispo, Max, Sangaré, Xavi Simons, Gutierrez, El Ghazi, Vertessen, Gakpo
hmmm
LOL Vertessen, even more hopeless than Bakayoko :laugh3: :laugh3:
thank god John de Jong has been sacked here, him and his lacklustre scout network, hopefully his replacement (whoever it'll be) has a wider scout network, and dares to look wider than his nose is long (rather than coward John with only bringing back has beens like Luuk de Jong)
and why oh why Ramalho and not Branthwaite :conf: Branthwaite in a better form but yeah ofc Ramalho more european cup experience

tough one for Union Saint-Gillioise too, against europa veterans SC Braga especially away
Dnipro vs Vaduz also might be a interesting one, i mean Vaduz aren't as bad as you might think though
Anderlecht vs West Ham
West Ham definitely can win this easily but the dangers here are to not underestimate Anderlecht, they've worked hard getting back into european cup football lately after a little form crisis
tough one for Hearts, Fiorentina are very strong, quite a consistent left side of table team in Serie A (with just a sporadic few years of form crisis and ending bit lower)
AS Roma vs Real Betis: conference league reigning champion vs a decent mid table team from La Liga, very ambitious team too 2nd one from Sevilla

Erling Haaland is earning close to £900,000 per week at Manchester City, Sportsmail has learned.
The Norwegian superstar, who has set the Premier League on fire since his £51m arrival from Borussia Dortmund, is picking up the staggering sum which makes him by far the highest-paid player in the country.
It is understood that the 22-year-old gets a basic salary which is in line with the other higher earners at the Etihad Stadium. However, a series of substantial, almost-guaranteed bonuses see his weekly wage surge beyond the £850,000 mark.

I can’t believe how little protection have technical players get these days .. it’s gone 180 degrees .
Their RB kicked Jack Grealish clean up in the air - from behind and the ref just wagged his finger in offender’s direction

for FK Ballkani anything can happen still in that group
all on 4 points
and group H
Basel, Pyunik both on 6 points, Bratislava on 4 points, Zalgiris on 1 point

I'm a few hours late, but I just want to say that the advert about stopping online abuse on BT Sport made me laugh for two reasons.
1. It was about as subtle as a brick, with a cheesy filming technique to boot.
2. And probably my biggest issue with the Advert is that isn't this the same BT Sport that joined Sky Sports and every other Media outlet in encouraging hatred towards Harry Maguire & Paul Pogba? So it's like the Pot calling Kettle black as they say.
Rant over.

possible line ups for tonight
Arsenal’s pursuit of their fifth Europa League knock-out appearance on the trot continues on Thursday as PSV Eindhoven touch down in London for a top-table Group A six-pointer.
Despite being forced to play catch-up after UK national mourning initially pushed back their encounter against the Dutch giants, the Gunners head into proceedings as sovereign leaders.
Bukayo Saka’s first-half strike propelled Mikel Arteta’s high-flying crew to a 1-0 victory away to Bodo/Glimt last week, preserving their 100% three-game Europa League start.
The England international was decisive again at the weekend as his top-class finish late in the first half helped Arsenal beat Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road and extend their lead at the Premier League summit.
Patrick Bamford’s wayward spot-kick came in handy to enable the London heavyweights to go four points clear of second-placed Manchester City, setting them up nicely for this pivotal Europa League fixture.
A victory at the Emirates Stadium, where they’ve won all six competitive matches this season, would catapult the Gunners into the Europa League knock-outs with two games to spare.
However, PSV should not be underestimated following their eye-catching three-match Group A start (W2, D1), with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team also vying for the top spot.
Since drawing 1-1 with Bodo/Glimt on day one, the Farmers have strung together back-to-back Europa League triumphs, netting precisely five goals on each occasion.
With only two points separating the sides ahead of the kick-off, this encounter has a crucial bearing on the top-place Group A run-in, promising plenty of excitement for neutrals.
Match Preview
Arsenal
Looking at Arsenal’s bid to avenge a three-game winless European streak against PSV (D2, L1), this showdown could not have been timed any better if you ask Arteta.
Not even a power cut at Elland Road on Sunday stopped the Gunners and Arteta from wild celebrations after amassing an eye-catching 27 of the first 30 available points in the Premier League this season.
Translating their formidable domestic form to the European front is a must if Arsenal are to build on their all-time eight-game home record against Dutch opponents in UEFA-sanctioned fixtures (W3, D4, L1).
PSV Eindhoven
PSV’s dismal 3-0 defeat away to Eredivisie minnows Cambuur at the start of October was a wake-up call for van Nistelrooy’s men, who have since won four competitive games on the spin by an aggregate score of 17-2.
Inspired by former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain prodigy Xavi Simons, the Dutch big guns followed a 5-0 trouncing of Zurich in the previous Europa League round with an overwhelming 6-1 win over Utrecht at the weekend.
A string of jaw-dropping performances by PSV bodes well for their effort to defy their underwhelming recent European record away to English adversaries, as they’ve only won once in their 11 previous visits to the country (D4, L6).
Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven Potential Line-ups
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Matt Turner; Ben White, Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, Kieran Tierney; Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey; Bukayo Saka, Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Martinelli; Eddie Nketiah.
PSV Eindhoven (4-2-3-1): Walter Benitez; Philipp Mwene, Andre Ramalho, Armando Obispo, Philipp Max; Ibrahim Sangare, Erick Gutierrez; Xavi Simons, Joey Veerman, Cody Gakpo; Guus Til.
How to Watch?
For all die-hard Gunners supporters, you can watch Arsenal games on TV, including Thursday’s clash against PSV.
Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven Preview
If there was a time you could’ve doubted Arsenal’s ability to perform consistently at the highest level, those days are long gone.
Arteta’s men have excelled on all fronts this season and we expect them to carry on with their stellar form by sending PSV to the Europa League play-offs.
But this won’t be another day in the office for the Gunners as we can help but back the visitors to score at least once.

there are no real shocks apart from Brugge instead of Atletico then :suspect: how does Brugge suddenly become this good, shady?
Napoli, Liverpool always going to qualify, Ajax likely 3rd and Rangers chanceless 4th
group of deaths
Bayern Munich and the rising comeback of Inter Milan to top form were Barca's only downfall and there is no shame about that though
Juve's exit more thanks to PSG's worldclass stars and Benfica's super streak being their bad luck
Man City and Dortmund showing they got more quality than Sevilla also no real surprise, can see Sevilla being dark horses for europa league i think, since they got quite some experience there

It only takes for Arsenal to have a **** performance and Barcelona are through.

Man Utd won't win the europa league, same goes for Barcelona they'll crash out early on, more like thinking they're too good for EL
i'd say based on experience Sevilla, Shakhtar are the ones to beat on paper
Nicky91
03-11-2022, 08:19 AM
as for conference league
hmmm difficult one
West Ham maybe?
Fiorentina maybe?
AS Roma maybe should they end up 3rd in EL, strong chances to defend their title? although they got good chances for 2nd there still too between them and Ludogorets
one of SC Braga or Union Berlin deffo a tough opponent for both knockout phase sides
Sheriff normally should make conference league knockout, better not choke at home against Omonia i beg you
Nantes or Qarabag, i think Nantes has it easier away against Olympiakos rather than Qarabag at home against Freiburg, Qarabag are the azeri top team, bags of experience too in loads of qualifying rounds of CL, EL, Nantes are quite the outsiders, they play decently, and whenever they really want it, they get the job done so never underestimate this squad, also nice to see a club with such history being back onto old form kinda
Group H is very open still
Monaco can still be 1st but also 3rd or even 4th
Ferencvaros already qualified but you'd want to be 1st i reckon, to avoid a earlier inbetween playoff round
and on paper for conference league, both Monaco, Trabzonspor would definitely up the quality of their knockout phase, Red Star also not a team to underestimate though i think
Brilliant goal for the Man U youngster

not a too bad draw for Sheriff i think
could've always been worse
Ajax against 3rd place in Germany ouch
PSV against 17th place in Spain, although not to underestimate a team which won the competition multiple times already so
Juventus vs Nantes also a nice match on paper i think
bye bye Brugge me thinks against the super solid Benfica
Man U and Liverpool have managed to get easy games
Manchester United's centre-back Lisandro Martínez is suspended for the first-leg against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

let's not get in denial all and face it, Bayern are a pretty good team, even without a star like Lewandowski
Choupo-Moting is a very nice late blossomer of a goalscorer
also Bayern having 4 french players while PSG barely has 1 in the team's starting 11 (Mbappe and first half his 16 yr old replacement), PSG are an insult for homegrown talent
tonight we have
Borussia Dortmund vs Chelsea
and Club Brugge vs solid portuguese powerhouse Benfica

Interesting piece of writing off the t’internet
:::
Mudryk was caught liking comments on social media criticizing Cucerella for not passing the ball enough to him a few matches ago.
Basicaly blaming Cucurella for his poor from.
His Ukrainian Club owner/coach had also made comments that I suspect Potter may have not liked.
Maybe these things have contributed to him not playing much during the past 2 matches and of course, he hasn't really played well since he arrived there...but given his price tag, I would be surprise if Pulisic continue to be picked ahead of Mudryk

I know it sounds ridiculous to say atm, even being in the quarters of CL, but both times we won the CL our domestic form was bad, and/or below average. So that could be a good omen.
Last time we won the CL we barely scrapped 4th. The first time we won in 2012 we didn't even get top 4. Like i say, it would still take something truly epic from Chelsea to win the CL this season. But, stranger things have happened in football.

Just expanding on my outlandish theory ..
My beloved but sadly mediocre Barca have beaten Real Madrid TWICE in the last three weeks !!
Once at their place and the other game we beat them 3:1 at a neutral ground …
Then we have Liverpool who have shown last week that if they click they can wipe any team off the pitch .. plus they will have to react to that poor defeat at the weekend ..
Everyone saying it will take something really special and yet it’s less than 24 hours since we saw Haaland score 5 goals in 35 minutes equalling Messi’s record.
