This week, Typhoon Hinnamnor developed into the most powerful tropical
cyclone recorded on Earth so far in 2022. AccuWeather meteorologists warn the
typhoon will cause life-threatening flooding, destructive wind gusts as high as
185 mph, and disruptions to the energy and commerce sectors across the
southern islands of Japan and parts of South Korea.

As of early Thursday morning local time, the typhoon had one-minute
sustained winds of 115 mph (185 km/h), equivalent to a Category 4 major
hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale in the Atlantic and
East Pacific basins. Wind gusts were estimated to be 165 mph (265 km/h).
Satellite imagery showed that the storm had a well-defined eye.

Forecasters are indicating that Hinnamnor might head for South Korea or southern Japan in the first week of September. Sea surface temperatures are several degrees above average, which could help sustain and strengthen the storm in coming days.

The Western Pacific typhoon season stretches across the entire year, but the majority of storms usually form between May and October. So far in 2022, 13 tropical storms or depressions have formed in the basin, of which four have become typhoons.

In the Atlantic Ocean, the month of August 2022 passed without a single hurricane, the first time that has happened since 1997.

The big winds in the UK last Christmas, tore off about 10 of our roof tiles.

And ripped down part of our chimney

If there is a repeat this year in UK, I'm convinced the roof will come off. :(
