The monarch will be laid to rest with her late husband Prince Philip at the King George VI
memorial chapel during a private service and burial on Monday evening.
This will follow her state funeral at Westminster Abbey, which begins at 11am.
Details:
Journey to Westminster Abbey
The lying in state at Westminster Hall will conclude at 6.30am, with the doors
closed in preparation for the funeral.
Shortly after 10.35am, the coffin will be lifted and carried in procession to
the state gun carriage of the Royal Navy positioned outside the north door.
The 123-year-old gun carriage will then set off at 10.44am, pulled by 98
Royal Navy sailors using ropes in a tradition that dates back to the funeral of
Queen Victoria, with the route to the Abbey lined by members of the Royal
Navy and Royal Marines.
A tri-service guard of honour will take place on Parliament Square,
accompanied by the band of the Royal Marines.
Following the Queen's coffin will be the King, Anne, Andrew and Edward.
Behind them will be the Queen's grandsons Peter Phillips, the Duke of Sussex
and the Prince of Wales.
They will be followed by the Queen's son-in-law Vice Admiral Sir Tim
Laurence, her cousin the Duke of Gloucester, and her nephew the Earl of
Snowdon.
The procession, led by a massed Pipes & Drums of Scottish and Irish
Regiments, the Brigade of Gurkhas, and the Royal Air Force and numbering
200 musicians, will arrive at 10.52 and the coffin will be carried into the
Abbey for the service.
The doors to Westminster Abbey will have opened at 8.00am to allow the
general congregation to take their seats, with a total of 2,000 people
expected to gather for the funeral.
they say it will be the biggest organised event since the end of the war

16-09-2022, 12:00 PM
Towards the end of the service, the Last Post will be played, followed by a national two-
minute silence. The conclusion of the state funeral, expected at 12:00, will be marked by a
lament played by the Queen's piper.

There is a strong presence of former military personnel among the crowds of
mourners on Constitution Hill, outside Buckingham Palace
Among them was 25-year Royal Navy veteran Dave Mills, who served in the
Falklands and first Gulf wars. He was brimming with pride His son Tim, who
followed his father into the Navy, will be marching alongside the Queen's coffin
later this morning.
As Chief of Parade Staff, Portsmouth, he has been responsible for training the
gun carriage detachment ahead of the big day.
"I just spoke to him 10 minutes ago," said Mr Mills, 66, his chest festooned with
medals. "I think there are a few nerves, but I'm extremely proud of him. He's
got the best job here. He's been training for this moment for five years. He left

The actual service in the Abbey seemed to lose its like continuity a bit.
However excellent to see, we have this and do this all so brilliantly, I'd never want that to be lost.
It really touched me.
As all this has since the passing of Her Majesty the late Queen.

and i am liking Charles a lot more recently, and him and Camilla make a beautiful couple too, much more natural fitting together rather than him and Diana, i wish him best of luck on his reign as the new monarch and i am interested and curious what he'll do with his charity, pass it onto William or keep it as king's trust since it is a very important charitable cause which he always deeply cared for too, for development and improvement of vulnerable young people in terms of homelessness, mental health
well spoken again from PM Truss as well

This massive showing is part of the problem, but like sheep we follow and worship it. We are told this is how the world should work, when in reality it's utter bollocks. Im a realist, the world will never be a "i love you and you love me, we are all equal" utopia, but jeez, just watching this again now, it's surreal and just plan madness.
Also, isn't it AMAZING 90% of the country can you unite on this, but with everyday mundane stuff will all argue until the cows come home?

Very moving….
Ideally the journey down the Long Walk and the service at Windsor was the best part and many would say all that was needed.
This mornings gathering and service in London was for the World leaders to come together and pay their respects to a much respected and admired Monarch. A simple service at Windsor was not befitting such a a Queen reigned for 70 years.
The pomp and pageantry was faultless and just amazing….it’s all part of our heritage…nobody does it better and that’s why tourists flock to this country of ours.

You'd be opposed to your rescue Staffy, being made into a hat, or part of some tarty shoes, no? (most dogs get skinned alive for vanity btw)
Why we use animals for vanity still is beyond me. Breed, humanely kill, and eat yes! Use the parts, hence not wasted for others.
Im a proud meat eater. But to kill an animal for vanity? No thank you!

Does it matter? It happens, and yes some do. Like in France, they'd use pups as Shark bait.

We get it, you have a problem with the monarchy,
Earlier you bought the poor people into the argument and now it’s the turn of the poor animals.
If there was no monarchy there would still be poor people and poor animals being killed.
You eat animals that have been killed for food so you are picking and choosing when it’s ok for animals to die.

He didn't look like he was in the earlier service but his mouth was moving.
I thought he wasn't either.
Then again he doesn't open his mouth very much even when he speaks so was hard to tell.
However he was singing it clearly at the Windsor service.
While making this post, I'd like to add, to you yourself LT and to other members, it's been oddly a comfort at times, ( for want of a better description), a pleasure and interesting too as to how everyone has felt about this period.
In sharing thoughts, experiences and observations all through.
So thank you all.

Yes I did notice that…neither he or Meghan sang at the cathedral…they could have been struggling with the second verse

So true Joey. Maybe in 1000 people will look back on a thread like this as a historical document?

This funeral is hard to take in, that the Queen is in that coffin.
Seems like yesterday I was watching her Queen's Speech on Christmas Day, which I did every year. When she was beaming with health.
Time goes so fast. :(
Or the Platinum jubilee .. which was only a few months ago.
It's so surreal.
The Queen has had an amazing send off , biggest funeral.
The choreography of everyone involved, such dedication & you can see they feel honoured.

I must admit mind I don't think I've ever sung the 2nd verse of the anthem.
I'll do the first all the time though when it's played.
I actually and unfortunately think our national anthem is rather boring.
Sorry but I do sadly.

I don’t know why the second verse isn’t sung…it’s the Anthem at the end of the day. Compared to many world wide it’s a good Anthem…I love the American one the best if I’m honest.
I’m sure the Words would have been on the song sheet though. I’m always aware when people do not sing the Anthem…especially at Football games. Each to their own but you would have expected members of the family to be singing it tbh.

Me neither, this is about paying respect to The Queen.
Saying goodbye to her , focus should be on that.
Her family & people who knew her are there to celebrate her life.
Plus loads of people in the congregation ... are silent on the second verse of the national anthem ,but oh well.

I was actually surprised to find in my early teens that there even was a second verse :joker:
It's going to take me a while I think to remember to replace the word Queen with King though.

I think the vast majority of people have put aside there dislikes for the couple during this time out of respect
But there is still an under current left by them attacking the monarchy
I highly recommend the 1988 film They Live.
