The year will kick off in Bahrain, with the first race scheduled in Sakhir on March 5th, with a two-week gap until the second round, which will be held in Saudi Arabia.

Melbourne will be the venue for the third round, before China makes its long-awaited return after its most recent race in 2019.

The first double-header of the year will be the fifth and sixth rounds, held in Azerbaijan and Miami, before Imola kicks off the European season as the first of a triple-header with Monaco and Barcelona.

The calendar doesn’t feature the much-rumoured return of the South African Grand Prix, but does confirm the return of Qatar after hosting its inaugural race in 2021.

“The presence of 24 races on the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar is further evidence of the growth and appeal of the sport on a global scale,” said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem of the announcement.

“The addition of new venues and the retention of traditional events underlines the FIA’s sound stewardship of the sport. I am delighted that we will be able to take Formula 1’s new era of exciting racing, created by the FIA’s 2022 Regulations, to a broader fan base in 2023.

“In framing the 2023 F1 calendar, WMSC Members have also been mindful of the timing of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.”

so far Max staying very dominant this season

Ferrari kinda flopping

the Stroll, Alonso duo is hilarious though, Alonso praising Stroll as a future world champion (well who is his boss, lance's daddy so smart from Fernando) Stroll will never be a world champion, i don't buy that for a second :joker:

loving Alonso/Verstappen friendship too, not a rivalry at all

Nicky91
18-06-2023, 08:38 AM
tonight Canada GP

once again a Max, Alonso 1-2 in starting grid, followed by the Mercedesses of Hamilton and Russell

Hulkenberg actually qualified in 2nd but got a grid penalty after replacing his engine, and is now starting from 5th (+ another grid penalty for next race of another 3 places down)

-------------
i'm lowkey liking F1 again more and more, but for me i love the good old days too watching those back (with the likes of Jarno Trulli, Giancarlo Fisichella, Olivier Panis, Jean Alesi, Jacques Villeneuve)

now on topic, canada

who do you guys liked more, Gilles Villeneuve or his son Jacques, i think both were fab drivers, sad about Gilles with his fatal crash, gone too soon, and Jacques well done son of following into a legendary father's footsteps and also ending up very successful, that is even more of an achievement than with Max now, where Jos was not successful, although King of the DNF's :hehe: (koning van de grindbak we call him here in dutch)

Max is good, but for me personally i will always just have a weak spot for Ayrton :(

----------------
i enjoyed last nights race a lot

Alex Albon also very deservedly driver of the day, strong performance in his williams defending his 7th place with success from the likes of Ocon, Norris, Bottas, Stroll

but why do these commentators of Viaplay always have to tempt fate and possibly jinxing it for Max  miles length ahead of the rest, this almost cannot go wrong, ugh as if we don't remember back in 2005 the european GP, when Raikkonen DNF'd with literally one lap to go

am fully expecting another Max win

will be more exciting who will be 2nd and 3rd as Perez isn't consistently good, maybe Norris again? or Piastri? would love Alonso on the podium obviously but not sure about that

Hamilton maybe depends on how things go now

pretty sure Ferrari are gonna choke as usual, that crisis with them is so funny

----------------
for 2024

confirmed is that Sauber is returning to the sport, with Audi to replace Alfa Romeo

AlphaTauri will get rebranded with a new italian management, new name

MaoriPower in F1 :worship:

Lawson is a good driver, at least he is quite decent in F2

F2 has good talents again, to my cup of tea

Pourchaire, Hauger, Doohan, Crawford, Vesti and i also like Verschoor (not perfect but he is a good try-hard)

Nicky91
26-08-2023, 01:49 PM

upcoming weekend it's Monza

full on race weekend again too

the near last race for the F2 btw, and its all so close together now in their championship, quite exciting

yesterdays F2 zandvoort race saw the entire top 5 DNF and it saw Clement Novalak win with fastest lap extra point, jumping from 2 points to 28 points

exciting battle between Theo Pourchaire and Frederik Vesti, the latter whom has interest from F1 teams like Mercedes, Williams closely following him

Nicky91
28-08-2023, 08:39 AM
and it is another Sprint Race weekend too for F2 (which will also be the case in their last race in november, over in Abu Dhabi)

Nicky91
28-08-2023, 08:42 AM
i watched their zandvoort race yesterday morning as well

our dutchie Richard Verschoor not bad at all, from 14th to a great 4th place result

a nice battle between Zane Maloney and Jak Crawford for 2nd/3rd

couple of interesting battles between Arthur Leclerc (Charles's younger brother) and his teammate Iwasa

Singapore this weekend

-------------
my fave F1 decade is early 00's, such a strong line up it was back then

even the lesser cars had quality drivers in them: Panis, Trulli, Heidfeld, Alesi, Irvine (in the Jaguar wasn't bad at all either, Jaguar was the one before known today as Red Bull btw), Minardi = AlphaTauri nowadays and new name in 2024, italian management again too

Pastor Maldonado an absolute ICON, 2012 Spain race his only win and pole, something else than crashing from him

Gaston Mazzacane the legend of many DNF's, one time overtaking Hakkinen to everyone's surprise was also a memorable moment

i liked HRT Racing while they lasted too, Bruno Senna with Karun Chandhok, later on De La Rosa instead of Senna also not bad

Chandhok nowadays still works in F1 as Pit Reporter

most awful moment was Ralf Schumachers crash in quali of Indianapolis, when they only had 6 drivers starting in the race, on pirelli tyre, no one on michelin tyres

Tiago Monteiro's only podium ever was iconic too, first portuguese doing so either

Iceman
16-09-2023, 12:31 PM
Red bull in trouble this weekend. Ferrari pole and win?

Nicky91

Red bull in trouble this weekend. Ferrari pole and win?

Singapore track just isn't favourable for Red Bull

i think it'll be between Ferrari and McLaren, but also Mercedes and Aston Martin seem strong in the long runs

Williams struggling either, normally Albon has been pretty fast too but this track is too bumpy for them either

Iceman
18-09-2023, 05:22 PM
That was some bottle job by George. Also him saying he should have won the race. There wasn't a hope he would do it on the last lap. Bad weekend for Max but still managed to extend his lead in the drivers. Can see him winning it in the sprint in Qatar which will be a bad look.

Yeah it's been a notorious track for the dominant cars in years gone by. I fully expect Red Bull to be back this weekend. I wonder will some teams like Ferrari and McLaren struggle now the technical directive will be more apparent.

Stroll will be back for the Japan GP this weekend

his car has been fully repaired

Nicky91
21-09-2023, 08:51 AM
although in Free Practice 1, he might be replaced by test driver Felipe Drugovich, whom according to the official FIA rules that all test drivers must make enough minutes on the track in a season too

i wonder when Red Bull will make Max sit one session out for their test driver

Max back to winning ways !!

On a separate note ..

I hate these yellow flag / safety cars restarts !!

Someone gets 6 seconds ahead … then for whatever reason a safety car comes out and they all get bunched up together !!

It means the guy at the front may have to win the race about 4 times !!

Have they always done this ??

Anyone know what happened 30 years ago ?

Interesting that Hamilton is being regularly beaten by his young teammate after all those years of dominance in the fastest car ..

Maybe he wasn’t such a brilliant driver after all just an aggressive driver in the fastest car

his luck more like that Red Bull is back to the same form as with Vettel's winning streak ;)

if Daddy Jos had a better car back in the day, he would've deffo done a lot better too, he had the potential for sure, his former teammate and still good friend Pedro De La Rosa also said that recently in a interview

F1 for me personally gotten weaker, driver quality wise

back in the day when we had the likes of Jarno Trulli, Jean Alesi, Olivier Panis, Nick Heidfeld, Jenson Button, Takuma Sato for the ''lesser'' teams

Eddie Irvine i kinda want to compare to Sergio Perez, similar mentality there, not champion material but a hard worker, same how Barrichello was a strong force in Schumi and mostly Ferrari's dominance, those were the golden days of Ferrari, when they had better duo's: Schumi/Irvine, Schumi/Barrichello rather than now with Leclerc and Sainz whom both go for own successes rather than the one helping the other, holding back the rest of the grid or in quali's driving in each others slipstream

Frentzen was also a great driver, back when Williams slayed sub top

one driver who never won anything, but i still liked him a lot, Alexander Wurz, very strong and competitive in the quali's, doing his best going for fastest times, his son Charlie btw now scouted by Red Bull's Helmut Marko :)

Fisichella i stanned big time, superb teammate to Alonso at Renault, Briatore btw was a similar father figure as Horner and Helmut is to Max now, back then at that renault dream team

Fisichella still supports Alonso, and even says he still has potential to win some races

I shall say nothing about the race

What's crazy is only twice in history has someone won more than 13 races. Max did it both times. 15 last year. 14 this year with 5 to go. Most laps led in a season. Most poles could go too. Most sprint wins. Most points is on the cards. He's completely dominated and I can't see it stopping anytime soon.

Apparently Checo is going to announce his retirement at the Mexican grand prix. I hope he does because he embarrassed not only himself but the team this year.

Ricciardo returns this weekend

His return is going to put pressure on Checo and with Liam Lawson waiting in the wings, Ricciardo is going to feel under pressure to perform well himself.

Does anyone reckon there’s any truth in the rumour that Stroll will bow out at the end of the season and will be replaced by Yuki?

Could be all change at Red Bull and Alpha Tauri? Would love to see Liam with a drive for 2024.

I’m a Max fan so I’m ecstatic :)

Interesting that Hamilton is being regularly beaten by his young teammate after all those years of dominance in the fastest car ..

Maybe he wasn’t such a brilliant driver after all just an aggressive driver in the fastest car

I’m a massive Max fan too. What a superb driver. He’s got something very special.

No doubt that Lewis is a great driver, but I detest the way that George’s achievements are not given the recognition he deserves. It always seems to me that George’s successes are under-played so as not to offend Lewis’s ego.

Schwartzman his debut in F1 just now, for Ferrari

instead of Sainz in FP1

under the israeli flag

I’d like to see Schwartzman compete in F1. I rated him in F2. Shame he and Drugovich are sat in the garage, particularly when Stroll is performing so badly.

I heard the same, although it’s been denied by Checo and Red Bull. I think it’s a real possibility it could be true. It would make sense after the season he has had and the fact it would be his home race.

It’s so sad to see the deterioration in him. He was doing so well before he started thinking he could compete with Max for the championship. I think if he’d kept his focus on performing well and getting podiums, his season would have been so much more successful. If he stays, I think he will struggle massively next year, and Red Bull do not see him as a long term option anyhow. Retiring now might save him from further humiliation and from damaging his F1 legacy.

never gonna happen regarding Stroll as long as Daddy is still there

;)

and he recently renewed his contract too

Aston Martin will get a new team name, after Cognizant is no longer their sponsor, so third team name under Lawrence Stroll after Racing Point and Aston Martin

Alpha Tauri ain't that name anymore next season, new team HQ as well in Milton Keynes

Williams has one vacancy still for 2024, although i doubt they go for Lawson, when they could also possibly sign someone like Pourchaire or Vesti from F2

So true about Daddy! But I think contracts can turn out to be meaningless at times, especially if Daddy decides to sell the team!

I rate both Vesti and Pourchaire, but think Williams have their own junior drivers attached to them in F2. I adore Pourchaire’s character too - he’s a real personality and I find him a breath of fresh air.

There are so many talented young drivers who will miss out on F1 sadly.

F2 had some surprises this year too

in Zandvoort especially, low ranked Novalak whom won there with also fastest lap, immediately jumped upwards from 1pt to 27pts :hehe:

their last race is in Abu Dhabi, and also love how every race of theirs is a sprintweekend too

hope the Alfa's can sneak in some points if possible, good 9th and 10th starting positions tbh

think Ferrari as usual will struggle, with poor tyre management in a race

Brazil GP this weekend

come on Zhou, hoping for yet another good result, hopefully more luck on his side now compared to Mexico last weekend, after red flag he was most unlucky (being on hards which were 13 lap old tyres) still good thing he managed to finish

hopefully another strong result in the quali

sprint weekend means everyone has to immediately show their A-Game from FP1 and afterwards the quali for main race

no room for errors in sprint weekends

rather forget this race tbh

20th in quali

18th in sprint shootout

UGH brazil is a weird track :idc: all in all this season is an improvement for Zhou, so far, more finishes anyway, where he had more DNF's last year

also comparing him to his teammate Bottas, not bad almost very close in terms of set times

also quite a few clean laps, not much track limits, not many incident by FIA against him either so far, knows very well when to give up a place against stronger cars

am also watching that Brawn GP documentary on Disney

wow such an inspirational story that is from a team which lacked many financial resources to being very successful in the 2009 season

also that war between FIA (Max Mosley) and the Ferrari chairman Luca Montezemolo at that time :o

great interviews from Keanu Reeves tbh, with all the big names

----
btw Ross Brawn wants Red Bull to ditch Sergio Perez for someone better matched to Max, to get more exciting racing, like we had with Rosberg/Hamilton dynamic

i wanna see Max and Lando together i think

and then at McLaren alongside Piastri, i'd approach Albon

and at Williams: Pourchaire as Albon's replacement next to Sargeant

i myself like the duo at Sauber: Zhou/Bottas and i trust Sauber they might have a better car than this season

this weekend last race for team manager Franz Tost at AlphaTauri (also last race under that name for the team)

I think Max and Lando would be a great team, but I’d like MacLaren to develop their car so that Lando and Piastri can get closer to the Red Bulls. I see Lando as a team leader these days, rather than a team mate to Max.

A great combination might be Max and Fernando, as that would truly raise the competition at Red Bull, and I think we’d see some ultra exciting wheel-to-wheel racing!

Personally, I wish Williams had dropped Sargent at the end of the season and given the opportunity to one of the higher performing F2 drivers. I just don’t rate Sargent, I also think it’s time for Bottas to go, as I don’t feel he is pushing himself any more - to me, it seems he is making minimum effort, and just collecting his earnings. I don’t see any fight or determination in him any more.
